Hull City Set To Land International Midfielder On Loan

Hull City have struck an agreement with Turkish giants Beşiktaş to sign midfielder Amir Hadžiahmetović on loan for the 2025–26 season.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international, 28, is expected to undergo a medical before completing his move to the MKM Stadium, where he will become the latest addition to Sergej Jakirović’s reshaped squad.

Experienced Midfielder Set for Championship Move

Hadžiahmetović spent the first half of last season on loan at Rizespor, making 21 appearances before returning to Beşiktaş in February. He featured under Ole Gunnar Solskjær during the second half of the campaign, but has again been made available for a temporary switch.

According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Hull have finalised terms for a season-long loan. The Tigers hope the midfielder’s experience in top-flight Turkish football, where he previously amassed over 160 appearances for Konyaspor, will provide the balance and stability their midfield requires.

Hull’s Summer Business

Despite operating under a transfer embargo restricting them to free transfers and loan deals, Hull have been among the busiest sides in the Championship market. Joe Gelhardt, Oli McBurnie, Semi Ajayi and Brandon Williams have all arrived this summer, with Hadžiahmetović now set to follow.

Jakirović’s side have taken four points from their opening three league fixtures, with one win, one draw and one defeat. Their latest test comes this weekend with a trip to Bristol City, though it remains unclear whether the new signing will be registered in time to feature at Ashton Gate.

Proven Quality

Born in Denmark, Hadžiahmetović began his professional career at Željezničar in Bosnia before moving to Turkey in 2016. He became a mainstay at Konyaspor, helping them lift the Turkish Cup in 2017 and later extending his contract until 2024. His performances earned him a move to Beşiktaş in 2023, where he won the Turkish Cup again in 2024.

Now capped 30 times for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the defensive midfielder has built a reputation for composure on the ball and resilience in the centre of the pitch. Hull will be banking on those qualities as they look to improve their consistency this season.

Writer’s View

This looks like a shrewd piece of business from Hull. While the transfer embargo has limited their scope, Jakirović and his recruitment team have identified players with pedigree and experience, and Hadžiahmetović fits that profile. His grounding in European competition and international football gives Hull a level of assurance they have lacked in midfield at times. If he can adapt quickly to the Championship’s demands, he could prove to be one of the division’s more influential loan signings.
