Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United are weighing up a move for free agent Adam Reach following his departure from Wycombe Wanderers.
The 32-year-old winger, best known for his five-year spell at Sheffield Wednesday, has been training with the Professional Footballers’ Association’s unattached players’ squad as he seeks a new club.
Yorkshire Clubs Circle Experienced Winger
According to reports, both Huddersfield and Rotherham are exploring the possibility of adding Reach to their squads. His availability without a transfer fee makes him an attractive option for clubs seeking proven Championship and League One experience at low risk.
Huddersfield, managed by Lee Grant, are undergoing a rebuild following failure to get out of League One, while Rotherham are also reshaping their squad after their own difficult campaign. Both sides see Reach’s versatility as a potential asset, with the wide man equally capable of playing on the left flank or filling in at left-back.

Career to Date
A product of Middlesbrough’s academy, Reach made 77 appearances for his boyhood club before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in 2016. During his time at Hillsborough, he became a regular fixture, racking up 230 games across five seasons and scoring some spectacular long-range goals that earned him a reputation for striking from distance.
After leaving Wednesday in 2021, Reach signed for West Bromwich Albion, where he added further Championship experience, before joining Wycombe on a short-term deal last season. He featured 15 times for the Chairboys before departing at the end of his contract.
The winger also spent time on loan at Bradford City earlier in his career and represented England at youth level, though a Premier League breakthrough ultimately eluded him.
Free Agent Opportunity
For Huddersfield and Rotherham, Reach represents a chance to bring in a seasoned professional without a transfer outlay. His ability to operate across multiple positions and provide reliable deliveries from wide areas could prove invaluable to squads still finding their rhythm early in the season.
Both clubs have already made a number of signings, but adding an experienced figure with knowledge of Yorkshire football could provide an extra layer of quality and leadership.
Writer’s View
Adam Reach may be approaching the twilight of his career, but his track record at Championship level and his adaptability across positions make him an appealing free agent. For Huddersfield, his creativity could support a promotion push, while Rotherham would benefit from his reliability and set-piece delivery as they look to steady themselves after a turbulent spell.
With both clubs in transition, Reach’s experience could offer stability and a touch of quality in what promises to be a competitive League One campaign.
