Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Coventry City have made an unbeaten  start to the campaign as they attempt to put last season’s playoff heartache behind them. The Sky Blues go into this fixture on the back of an eight goal thriller at Derby County.

Lampard’s side twice led before trailing 3-2 with 20 minutes to go, when three goals in seven minutes turned the game on its head and sent the three points back to the West Midlands.

Coventry were far more defensively sound in their opening two fixtures of the campaign, a 0-0 draw with Hull City on the opening day and a 1-0 EFL Cup win over Luton Town three days later.

City have scored five goals in their opening two league matches with Milan van Ewijk adding two assists to his excellent form. Ephron Mason-Clark and Bobby Thomas have also started the season well and have scored a goal apiece, with Thomas looking to add to the dramatic winner he scored in this fixture last season.

Queens Park Rangers travel north in search of their first victory of the season, having taken a solitary point and exited the EFL Cup at the first hurdle.

The Rs opened their season with a 1-1 draw at home to Preston North End, requiring an own goal from North End’s Ben Whiteman for a share of the spoils.

New boss Julien Stephan then sent a much-changed, youthful side to Plymouth Argyle for the first round EFL Cup tie. After leading 2-0 at half time, Rangers let that lead slip and were eventually beaten 3-2 by their lower league opponents.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Watford has left QPR with one point at this early stage of the season and in need of igniting their campaign.

Ilias Chair has been the bright spark of the disappointing start, creating six chances for his teammates and producing five successful crosses.

So far, Kieran Morgan is the only QPR player to find the net in the Championship and, despite all their possession, the club have conceded 1.5 goals per game so far.

Since 2010, these two sides have met 12 times and Queens Park Rangers having the edge with six victories to Coventry’s five.

It is the Sky Blues, however, who hold the upper hand in recent encounters having claimed four wins from the previous six meetings.

Last season’s first meeting in October at Loftus Road ended in a 1-1 draw. Haji Wright handed Coventry the lead inside five minutes before Kieran Morgan salvaged a point for Rangers just after an hour.

The Sky Blues ran out winners in dramatic fashion when the sides met in the reverse fixture as they made their run for a playoff spot. The game looked to be heading for a draw before Bobby Thomas scored a header in the fourth minute of stoppage time to steal it at the death.

The last time QPR tasted victory in this fixture was back in May 2024 when goals from Morgan Fox and Ilias Chair were enough to secure all three points at The Coventry Building Society Arena.
