A bright start to the season for Hull City, and a slow one for visitors Blackburn Rovers, means points are even more valuable in this EFL Championship lunchtime fixture.
Our Three Predictions For Hull City v Blackburn Rovers
Prediction 1 – Hull City To Win – 11/10
Prediction 2 – Match To End In A Draw – 11/5
Prediction 3 – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 29/50
First Prediction For Hull City v Blackburn Rovers – Hull City To Win – 11/10
Hull City have had an eventful start to the season. A decent goalless draw at Coventry City on opening day was backed up with a thrilling 3-2 win over Oxford United in their first home game. So with four points in the bag already they will be confident of adding that total against a Blackburn Rovers team that have endured a bad start, losing both of the opening Championship games, as well as being dumped out of the League Cup by Bradford City of League One. Hull are also out of the Cup after losing a two goal lead in stoppage time against Wrexham, then to lose out on penalties. The home side should have the edge here, and will aim to keep their good start going.
Second Prediction For Hull City v Blackburn Rovers – Match To End In A Draw – 11/5
The need to pick up at least a point, their first of the season will mean that Rovers will come into this game with a new resilience. They will not want a repeat of last week where they had a lead for so long against Birmingham City, only to ship two goals in injury time to lose the game. This came after an opening day loss at West Bromwich Albion. They may not have enough to win the game, but will be wanting to stop a Hull side that has scored six times in their last two games, albeit one in the League Cup. Should Hull continue their scoring output Rovers will need to find something extra to gain a point, but as said their need is great to get off the mark for the season.
Third Prediction For Hull City v Blackburn Rovers – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 29/50
Despite the rich scoring form that Hull have right now, they come up against a Blackburn team reeling from late goals conceded to snatch a loss when a win seemed certain. Games between the two in recent times have also fluctuated from high scoring to no goals at all, but the history does generally show close games. That should be the case here as even though Hull have picked up four points, they have not really been dominant, and Rovers by law of averages have to pick up a point sooner rather than later, as they have not been way off the pace in all of their three games so far this season.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head
Sergej Jakirovic will be mostly happy with the start his Hull City team have had, but will be aware of conceding too many. Attacking wise they do not seem to have many issues though, and this could be enough to see them gain at least a point in their second home Championship game of the season. 21 year old Charlie Hughes will have to continue his fine start to the season at the back, but will need more help from Ryan Giles and Cody Drameh if they are to stop the the five goals let in over the last two outings. Up front Scottish Striker Oliver McBurnie has proved more than a handful with a goal and two assists already, and has the perfect foil in Joe Gelhardt, who has also bagged a goal in this early part of the campaign,
Blackburn Rovers are licking their very open wounds having lost both league games, and also knocked out of the League Cup by a side in a lower division. So, Valérien Ismaël will be demanding full concentration from all of his team, as they aim to get their season up and running. Their only goal of the season so far in the two Championship games has come from the impressive Todd Cantwell, and the Sierra Leone striker Augustus Kargbo has been hard working but a goal will help his confidence too. Defensively Rovers have conceded five overall in their three games, so with no clean sheet something has to improve in that area. Ryan Alebiuso, Sean McLoughlin, and Yuri Ribiero must do better as a unit to protect Hungarian goalkeeper Balazs Toth.
