Sheffield United striker Tyrese Campbell has insisted he wants to repay the faith the club has shown in him by helping the Blades to promotion, reports the Sheffield Star.
Campbell is the subject of interest from at least one Premier League club.
Taken Game To Next Level
Campbell joined Sheffield United in August last year following his release from Stoke City just two months after the death of his father, former striker Kevin Campbell, and found a home at Bramall Lane.
The striker felt it was easy to transition into the team after his rival and believes the competition with players like Kieffer Moore was good for him.
“For me, it was quite easy to fit into the team and the style of play. There were a lot of great people and characters in the squad last season.”
“And to get going in that, playing and being an important part of that, was something that I sort of relished. I had competition with Kieffer Moore and one of us would play.”
“It’s what every player needs, that competition, and I think that helped me go to another level in my game and my career. I’m just grateful for the opportunity that I got last year because, the season before, I was probably injured for most of it. So for the club to take that sort of gamble was good, and I’ve got a lot of repayment to do.”

Heartbreak At Wembley
For large parts of the season, Sheffield United were on course to claim automatic promotion to the Premier League but they eventually had to make do with a playoff berth.
“We were so close last year, and I don’t think the club want to take a backwards step. The players don’t.”
“So I think we can only aim for what we aimed for last year, and even higher.”
Campbell Committed To Blades
Having scored 10 goals in 33 regular-season games, the 25-year-old forward is reportedly attracting interest from the top flight, with his father’s former club Everton rumoured to be keeping an eye on Campbell.
When asked if he was keen to be part of the promotion push with Sheffield United this season, Campbell replied:
“One hundred per cent, yeah. The club took the risk with me, and I want to repay them for the faith that they put into me. So I definitely want to be here and be a part of that.”
Writer’s View
Sheffield United will be keen not to lose another key player after selling Anel Ahmedhodzic to Feyenoord and Campbell’s departure would leave the Blades very light at the top end of the pitch.
United fans will be pleased to hear such an affirmative answer from their player when asked about transfer rumours.
