Wrexham have made a shock approach for Ipswich Town attacker Nathan Broadhead, offering up to £7 million to land the 26-year-old.
The bold bid, reported by Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph, would shatter the club’s transfer record and highlights the Red Dragons’ desire to compete at the top end of the Championship.
£7m Offer Signals Huge Intent
Broadhead, a Wales international with Premier League pedigree, is not for sale according to Ipswich, who plan to rely on him heavily as they push for promotion to the top flight. The forward scored 23 goals in 83 appearances for Town and was a crucial figure in their rise from the Championship.
Despite that, Wrexham are not backing down. Their Hollywood-backed rise has been nothing short of meteoric, and co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds appear determined to make another statement in the transfer market following the arrivals of Josh Windass and Ryan Hardie.

It’s understood #WxmAFC are prepared to pay £7m for the Wales international, which would smash their record fee. #ITFC have no intention of selling Broadhead this summer.

Should Broadhead join, he would be reunited with fellow Welsh international Kieffer Moore, another summer target reportedly being pursued in a £4 million deal. The pair played together during the 2023–24 season at Ipswich and remain key figures in Rob Page’s national team setup.

Competition for Places Heats Up at Stok Cae Ras
The potential addition of Broadhead raises questions about squad balance, especially given the recent arrivals of Windass and Hardie. Both are expected to play significant roles, but Broadhead’s profile is similar to Windass, sparking intrigue over how manager Phil Parkinson would juggle minutes across such a crowded frontline.
Still, for Wrexham, this is a calculated gamble. Broadhead is a proven goal threat, intelligent in the final third, and versatile enough to operate across the frontline. With 14 caps and 2 goals for Wales, and strong form at Sunderland and Wigan prior to Ipswich, he would bring quality and experience.
Writer’s View
Wrexham’s approach for Nathan Broadhead is audacious—but that’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from a club rewriting the rules. A £7 million bid is eye-watering for a newly promoted Championship side, but it speaks volumes about the belief within the club’s hierarchy.
Broadhead would undoubtedly elevate Wrexham’s attacking threat, but it’s a delicate situation. Ipswich have no incentive to sell, and the player himself may want another shot at the Premier League with the Tractor Boys. For Wrexham, though, this isn’t just about one transfer. It’s a message to the division: they’re not here to make up the numbers. They’re here to win.
