Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has confirmed his club’s interest in signing Sheffield United striker Kieffer Moore this summer, as reported by the BBC.
Moore scored six times for the Blades last season.
The Ever-Changing Transfer Market
Wrexham’s third straight promotion has earned them a place back in English football’s second tier for the first time in 44 years.
Parkinson has already added to his squad with the likes of Welsh goalkeeper Danny Ward, forwards Ryan Hardie and Josh Windass, Liberato Cacace and the midfielders George Thomason and Lewis O’Brien.
The former Colchester United boss is eager not to stop there and admitted his interest in Moore.
“Kieffer’s under contract at Sheffield United. He’s one of a number of players we’ve looked at over the summer.”
“Like I said, the landscape changes in the transfer market very quickly from one week to the next.”
Parkinson went on to say that Moore is not the only one on his transfer wish list:
“We’re looking at lots of options here and abroad.”
One of those players is believed to be the former Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen who is a free agent following his Old Trafford departure.

A Difficult Season For Moore
Kieffer Moore joined Sheffield United from Bournemouth last summer on a three-year deal, after a loan spell in the Championship with Ipswich Town. That spell yielded seven goals in just 18 appearances as Moore helped the Tractor Boys over the line in the promotion race.
As the Blades looked to replicate Ipswich’s achievement and regain their Premier League status, the signing of Moore was a positive piece added to their jigsaw.
However, the 49-cap Welsh international failed to recapture the form he showed during his brief loan spell and is perhaps best remembered for giving the ball away at Wembley for Tom Watson to go on and score the late winner that condemned the Blades to another season in the second tier.
Patience Is Key
The Championship season is a little over 10 days away but Parkinson accepts he may have to wait for his squad to be complete.
“Obviously in an ideal world you want all your signers in prior to pre-season to work with.”
“But it just doesn’t work like that.”
“But the most important thing is by the end of August we’ve got a squad in here which we feel can compete.”
Writer’s View
Wrexham’s business this summer has been impressive. They may well have been linked with everyone but signings such as Windass and O’Brien have added proven Championship quality.
With their current forward players, it could be argued whether they need to add Moore to their squad or if they should focus on strengthening other areas.
