Norwich City have ramped up their chase for Danish midfielder Pelle Mattsson by submitting a new offer.
The Silkeborg IF player has been a key target for The Canaries this window, having previously approached the Danish Superliga club earlier in the window for talks. They have not been alone in their pursuit of the 23-year-old, with Florian Plettenberg stating earlier this week that he was a target for German side 1. FC Nurnberg should they sell a player this window. Portsmouth have also been evaluating Mattsson, with reports in Bold from last month linking him to Fratton Park.
New Bid Revealed
According to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Norwich have lodged a new, improved offer valued at £2.6 million plus add-ons to Silkeborg for their midfielder, who has featured in their Conference League qualification campaign and their opening game in the league. It is expected that an agreement between both sides is close, which would see him depart his homeland 18 months before his contract expires.
Liam Manning’s side are still active in the market, with the Pink ‘Un stating in their own report about this new offer that they are after two new signings in midfield and a new left-winger, preferably on loan. Their transfer business started this window with a new central midfielder in Manchester City’s Jacob Wright, and they have made nine incoming signings so far.
Having played for Silkeborg since 2019, Mattsson has played 140 times for his club, winning the second tier in his first season for the club and has helped them to become an established top-flight outfit and reaching Europe for the second time since their promotion last season. Norwich had originally tabled a 15 million krone (£1.75 million) bid earlier this month, according to Bold, which was rejected.

Writers’ View
It seems Norwich City are set to secure their target in Pelle Mattsson with a new, improved offer. The Canaries have been very strong in their transfer business this summer, securing new options across the pitch and overhauling their goalkeeping department. With just one new incoming expected with a Premier League loan for a left winger to support Pape Diallo, the Canaries will have sorted out their squad before the Championship season starts. Whilst there are still question marks over the future of Josh Sargent after his Wolfsburg move collapsed, Liam Manning has a very good squad that could challenge at the top of the league this season.
