FA Cup Winner Set To Sign For Norwich City

Jeffrey Schlupp, who collected an FA Cup winners’ medal after featuring once in the competition for Crystal Palace last season, is in advanced talks to join Norwich City, as per Pete O’Rourke.

Schlupp Heading To East Anglia

The Ghana international is available on a free transfer after he departed Selhurst Park upon the expiration of his contract.

He made 247 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 19 times and making 17 assists, but he was never able to establish himself as a key player in South London.

Schlupp only made over 30 appearances three times in his eight seasons with Palace. His best year came in the 2022/23 campaign, when he made 34 league appearances and scored three times; it was the only campaign in which he played over 2,000 league minutes.

Most recently, Schlupp was deemed surplus to requirements by Oliver Glassner and he spent the first half of 2025 on loan at Celtic.

The 32-year-old made 18 appearances for the Scottish giants, two of which came in the Champions League knockout phase, as he helped them to retain their Scottish Premiership title.

Another Piece Of Business For Norwich

The Canaries have enjoyed a busy summer, both on and off the pitch.

Liam Manning, who took Bristol City to the playoffs last season, was appointed as the club’s new Head Coach, and he has had to contend with major interest in his key players in his first months at the helm.

Borja Sainz, who was the best player in the Championship for the opening part of last season, has moved to Porto for a rumoured fee of £14.25 million. There has also been heavy interest, both from the Premier League and overseas, in last season’s Player of the Season, Josh Sargent.

The East Anglian giants have already been hard at work in terms of incomings, using the money they got from Sainz to sign the likes of Mathias Kvistgaarden, Jacob Wright and Jakov Medic.

Schlupp would be the club’s eighth signing of the summer, and more business would surely be likely if they receive the £20 million they are demanding for Sargent.

Writer’s View

This could turn out to be a terrific pickup for Norwich.

Schlupp is a vastly experienced player who has played nearly 300 games in the Premier League and was playing in the Champions League as recently as last season.

He showed good form during his spell at Celtic and is tremendously versatile, meaning he could be used at either left-wing-back or in central midfield, assuming that Manning uses the same shape that he did with the Robins.

The key to getting the best out of Schlupp will be making sure that he is available to play 40 games for the first time in his professional career.
