Peterborough United’s rising star Harley Mills is the latest name to emerge on Celtic’s radar as the Scottish champions seek cover for returning left-back Kieran Tierney.
The 19-year-old left-back is one of several targets being lined up as Brendan Rodgers rebuilds his defence ahead of the new season. Mills spent nine years in Aston Villa’s academy before joining Posh in 2021, and enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024/25 and is now drawing serious interest.
Left-sided reinforcements needed
According to a report in The Scottish Sun, Mills is being tracked by Brendan Rodgers as a potential replacement for Greg Taylor, whose Parkhead future remains uncertain. With Jeffrey Schlupp returning to Crystal Palace after his loan and Taylor reportedly courting interest from Dinamo Zagreb, MLS and PAOK, reinforcements on the left are a clear priority.
Mills scored a stunning goal in the EFL Trophy Final against Birmingham City and has now firmly established himself in Darren Ferguson’s senior squad. His attacking style and ability to contribute in the final third have made him a standout, despite being just 19.

Bids already in
While Celtic are said to be weighing up an official bid, Premier League side Fulham have already submitted a £1 million offer, intending to slot the teenager into their U23 setup. Peterborough, for their part, are keen to keep the defender and have offered a new deal, but Mills has yet to put pen to paper and only has a year left on his current contract.
From non-league Enfield Town to Wembley goalscorer in a matter of months, Mills’ trajectory has been rapid. His performances have also prompted scouts from across England and Europe to take notice, with his ability to operate both as a traditional full-back and a wing-back giving him added tactical value.
Writer’s View
Harley Mills is exactly the kind of emerging talent Celtic have thrived on developing in recent years. With Greg Taylor likely on his way out and Kieran Tierney’s injury history a concern, competition for the left-back role is essential. Mills may be young, but his fearless performances and standout goal at Wembley show he has the confidence and talent to handle a step up.
Whether he’s ready to challenge Tierney immediately or join as a long-term project, he fits the bill for a modern full-back: quick, technical, and aggressive in the final third. Celtic’s ability to fend off Fulham and Peterborough’s resolve could decide whether Mills makes the leap to European football this summer.
