League One Prospect Joins Tranmere Rovers

Tranmere Rovers have confirmed the signing of teenager Taylan Harris on a half-season loan.

The Luton Town forward is yet to have much senior experience under his belt, playing just once for former club Reading during an EFL Trophy match two seasons ago. He arrives at Prenton Park just two weeks shy of their curtain raiser for the League Two season against Colchester United.

Harris Speaks About Decision

With The Hatters investing in new forwards following their relegation from the Championship, Harris has been given a chance elsewhere instead of another season in the academy squad. Matt Bloomfield’s side have already recruited former Bradford City man Nahki Wells, and have submitted a bid for Queens Park Rangers’ Charlie Kelman according to recent reports.

Speaking about his arrival on The Wirral, the striker said to club media:

“I’m really excited to be here. It’s a brilliant opportunity at a big Club, and I can’t wait to get started.

“The conversations I’ve had with the manager have been positive, and I just want to get started now and make an impact.

“I’ve spoken to some of the players who are here, and they told me that it’s a friendly club, everyone is together, and the fans are brilliant, so it was an easy decision for me to come here.”

He is the first new striker signing the Prenton Park club have made this summer but will be bolstered by keeping Kristian Dennis at the club for at least another season.

Writers’ View

It is somewhat surprising that this is Tranmere’s first attacking signing of the window. It points to a lot of belief in their existing attacking options of Dennis, Connor Jennings, Harvey Saunders and Josh Davison. Harris is an unknown quantity in football due to his lack of experience, but with his versatility being highlighted by Rovers boss Andy Crosby, he could have an influential role to play this season in wider areas. It is a promising signing and a great first loan move for a young talent like Taylan Harris.
