Wrexham have reportedly agreed a deal with Bolton Wanderers for the midfielder George Thomason, according to Football League World.
The fee for Thomason is said to be around £1.2 million.
Thomason Omitted From Squad
Bolton Wanderers continued their preparations for the new season with a 2-0 victory over Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on Saturday.
Plenty of the Wanderers squad gained vital minutes at Easter Road but George Thomason was a noticeable absentee.
Manager Steven Schumacher confirmed the player’s absence was due to his club accepting a bid.
“Obviously, George isn’t in the squad. We have accepted a bid from a club last week, and he’s gone this weekend to do his medical there.”
“I don’t want to name clubs and all that because it’s not confirmed yet. But that’s why George wasn’t here, obviously. We’ll probably touch on that in a bit more detail next week.”
Despite Schumacher not naming the buying club, it was confirmed that Wrexham are indeed the club to have agreed a £1.2 million deal.

Deal For Thomason Is Close
George Thomason is believed to have already agreed on personal terms with the Welsh side and was due to complete his medical yesterday before signing on the dotted line.
The delay is likely to be the fact that Wrexham’s staff are all on the other side of the world for the club’s tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Thomason An Astute Capture
Wrexham’s Hollywood appeal has seen them jet off Down Under for their pre-season preparations but they suffered a blow last Tuesday evening.
Not only did they go down 2-1 to Sydney FC but midfielder Ollie Rathbone had to be withdrawn and sent for an X-ray due to an ankle injury he sustained in an innocuous looking incident.
Speaking after that incident, manager Phil Parkinson stated:
“Ollie’s had to go to hospital for an X-ray.”
“It’s a very quiet dressing room in there because we’re concerned about Ollie.”
“It didn’t look that bad an incident when it happened but it swelled up instantly in the dressing room.”
The signing of Thomason could be the ideal remedy as Wrexham await news of Rathbone’s injury. The Bolton man will bring a tenacity and an edge to the Red Dragons’ engine room.
Writer’s View
Wrexham recently completed the signing of New Zealand international Liberato Cacace after an otherwise frustrating summer window. The agreement for Thomason will be welcome news for Phil Parkinson and will give the player the chance to continue his upward trajectory, from non-league to the Championship in five years.
