Jack Clarke’s Salary: How Much Does The Ipswich Town Attacker Earn?

1. Jack Clarke in 2024-25: Quick Overview

Jack Clarke was a much sought-after young player as he worked his way through the youth ranks at Leeds United. He debuted in the first team before turning 18 and would play 28 times for the Elland Road side.

Last summer, Clarke was signed by Premier League new boys Ipswich Town, as the Tractor Boys paid Sunderland around £17 million for his signature. The winger was one of a raft of players brought in as Ipswich prepared for their first season in the top flight since 2002.

Tipped for relegation as soon as promotion was confirmed, it was indeed a difficult season for Kieran McKenna’s side. Ipswich took just 22 points from their 38 games, scoring just 36 times.

For Clarke, it was the second big-money move of his career and the first taste of top-flight football, having never appeared in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur.

The York-born winger featured in 32 of the club’s 38 league outings but failed to find the net. He did, however, score three in three in the FA Cup. In truth, Clarke’s league action was limited to cameo roles as he only completed the full 90 minutes on two occasions.

After a tough season, Clarke is yet to live up to the price tag or the wages but he will be hopeful of recapturing his Sunderland form, now that he finds himself back in the Championship.

Data from Capology

Clarke broke into the Leeds United first team a few months before his 18th birthday, making 22 Championship appearances and featuring in the 2018-19 playoff campaign. During this time, he signed an improved contract that saw his earnings rise from £20,800 to £290,000 per year.

His talent and potential caught the eye of Tottenham who, under Mauricio Pochettino, forked out around £10 million for the youngster. Clarke’s move from Leeds to Spurs brought yet another huge wage increase, his salary quadrupling to £1,300,000 per annum.

His time at Spurs included a couple of loan moves, to Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City, before the third temporary switch, this time to Sunderland, that would eventually lead to a permanent move. This wasn’t before he had again signed an improved deal that took his weekly wage from £25,000 to over £30,000.

During Clarke’s loan at The Stadium of Light, he helped the Mackems back into the Championship after four seasons scrapping to get out of League One. Sunderland signed Clarke for their return to the second tier and he signed a £14,423 a week and £750,000 a year deal.

In his first season, the winger contributed nine goals and 12 assists as Sunderland reached the playoffs and Clarke’s form earned another pay rise to £880,000 a year.

The following season, he netted 15 times in 40 matches and put himself in the shop window. It was Ipswich who signed the former Leeds man for a reported fee of £17 million. Clarke signed a five-year deal at Portman Road worth £25,000 a week and £1,300,000 per year.

Should he see out that contract, Ipswich will have paid Clarke £6,500,000 in wages. The 24-year-old’s career earnings are believed to top £8,600,000.

3. Contract Details & History

Jack Clarke’s first contract at Leeds United was worth £400 per week which means his current Ipswich Town contract is worth more to him in a week than he was earning in an entire year when he broke into the first team.

He did sign an improved deal with United that took his weekly salary to £5,577 per week, a deal he remained on until his big-money move to Spurs.

That transfer saw Clarke’s wages rise almost fivefold to £25,000 per week, catapulting his yearly wage over £1 million. After failing to make an impact in London, the winger’s next step was the Championship and a return to Sunderland. Dropping down a division led to a wage decrease to £14,423 before that deal improved to £16,923.

His time on Wearside saw Clarke establish himself as a feared attacker in the Championship and helped him seal a move to Ipswich Town after they gained promotion to the Premier League.

He signed a five-year contract at Portman Road that took his wages back up to £25,000 per week and £1,300,000 per year.

Jack Clarke features high on the list of Ipswich Town’s top earners, sitting in sixth alongside players such as Sammie Szmodics and Leif Davis. He falls around £10,000 per week short of the club’s top-paid players, Arijanet Muric and Dara O’Shea who both earn over £1,800,000.

He earns vastly more than some of the players who remain at the club from its days in League One, with the likes of Wes Burns (£10,000 a week) and Luke Woolfenden (£12,500) towards the lowest earners at the club.

Five of the six highest-paid wingers in the Championship in the 2025-26 season will be representing clubs that were playing Premier League football last season. Only Watford’s Tom Ince (£1,560,000) breaks that trend.

Clarke’s last season in the Championship suggests he will be a consistent performer and see the goals that dried up in the Premier League return to his game.

One of the best value for money wide players in the division has to be Portsmouth’s Josh Murphy, who contributed seven goals and 14 assists last season while earning £5,000 per week.
