Twist In Blackburn Rovers Player Pursuit Emerges

Blackburn Rovers‘ attempt to sign Moussa Baradji has come to a grinding halt after an unexpected twist emerged.

Valerien Ismael’s side are gearing up to mount another playoff push this season, and have signed three players so far in defensive midfielder Sidnei Tavares, as well as the Kortrijk pair Dion De Neve and Ryan Alebiosu. There have been first-team departures too, with Danny Batth and Andreas Weimann both heading to Derby County on free transfers.

Deal Stalls

According to a new update from the Lancashire Telegraph, the expected move for Moussa Baradji from Swiss side Yverdon Sport has been suddenly halted, after it was believed a move had been agreed earlier in the week. The midfielder had flown to Ewood Park on Wednesday in order for a medical, but has seemingly not been completed as all three parties have returned to the negotiation table.

It is unknown what the issue was which caused this disruption, but it has scuppered any chances of him appearing in Rovers’ next friendly against Accrington Stanley. Midfield has been a key area of recruitment this summer, with a reported move for former Cardiff City loanee Sivert Mannsvert also on the cards.

24-year-old Baradji arrived at Swiss side Yverdon from Serie C in Italy, and played 29 times for the club in the top flight of the Alpine country. However, the Malian international could not stop the club from being relegated as the lowest-placed side.

Writers’ View

This is an unexpected development for Blackburn Rovers to face. Whilst certainly not an uncommon occurrence to see transfers stall out, it would seem like a bit of a blow having been hit with a last minute twist on Wednesday, as all signs pointed to the midfielder being announced that night. With talks ongoing over the weekend, Rovers will now need to re-strike a deal for Moussa Baradji in time for him to get adequate pre-season time under his belt ahead of the Championship season.
