Blackburn Rovers are engaged in discussions with three of their most important first-team players over new deals, but progress has been slow, and rival clubs are beginning to show interest.
Captain Lewis Travis, midfielder Sondre Tronstad and right-back Callum Brittain are all entering the final two years of their contracts, and as things stand, none are close to agreeing extensions.
Championship Interest In Rovers’ Trio
Travis has drawn interest from Wrexham, Derby County and Coventry City, all of whom have made enquiries this summer. While he is understood to be content at the club, a formal offer has yet to be made. Numbers have been discussed in preliminary talks, but there has been no proposal on the table to accept or reject.
Tronstad is similarly relaxed about his position. Blackburn have made their intention to keep him clear but have not submitted any terms. The 29-year-old, aware that this could be his final major contract, is reportedly waiting to see how ambitious the club are in the transfer market before making a decision on his long-term future.
Brittain, who enjoyed a strong campaign last term and has a close relationship with head coach Valérien Ismaël, is thought to be the most likely to re-sign. However, despite positive early conversations, an agreement has yet to be announced, and there is no suggestion that a deal is imminent.
This comes against the backdrop of a poor renewal record for Rovers, with only Yuri Ribeiro extending his contract since December 2023. The summer has already seen Danny Batth and Andi Weimann depart for Derby, while Tyrhys Dolan left as a free agent.

Writer’s View
Blackburn’s lack of progress in tying down their key players is becoming a genuine concern. While it’s reassuring that Travis, Brittain and Tronstad are all reportedly happy at the club, contentment alone won’t keep them at Ewood Park beyond 2026. With each passing week, the value of these assets diminishes, and if no agreements are reached, Rovers may soon face the harsh reality of losing them on the cheap—or for nothing.
In particular, Travis is the heartbeat of this side, and interest from ambitious Championship rivals is only going to intensify. Rovers must act decisively if they want to avoid another round of summer exits that weaken the core of their squad.
