Wrexham are reportedly eyeing an ambitious move for Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis this summer.
The midfielder, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Premier League-bound Ipswich Town, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Ewood Park.

Travis, 27, made 38 league appearances for Blackburn during the 2024–25 campaign before heading to Portman Road in January. There, he played a role in Ipswich Town’s historic return to the Premier League, their first in 22 years. Despite that success, he is now back at Blackburn, where uncertainty surrounds his future.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Wrexham are keen to secure the midfielder’s signature as they prepare for life in the Championship. The Welsh club, backed by Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, are said to be planning a bold summer and could look to capitalise on Travis’s contract situation. Blackburn reportedly want a seven-figure fee, around £2 million, to sanction a sale.
A product of Liverpool’s academy, Travis joined Blackburn in 2014 and was converted into a midfielder by then-manager Tony Mowbray. He signed his first professional deal in 2017 and made his senior debut later that year in the EFL Trophy. His breakthrough came during the 2018–19 season when he impressed with a string of combative displays in midfield, earning praise from Mowbray for his work rate and impact.
By 2022, Travis had signed a long-term extension with Rovers and was appointed club captain following the departure of Darragh Lenihan. He has made 263 appearances in all competitions, contributing eight goals and 12 assists along the way.
However, with no signs of a contract extension, Blackburn may now be forced to cash in. Losing their captain for free next summer would be a significant blow, and with Wrexham willing to spend, a deal could suit all parties.
