Interest Denied In Blackburn Rovers Winger Pursuit

Blackburn Rovers‘ out-of-contract forward Tyrhys Dolan is not a target for Middlesbrough as his future remains in the air.

Dolan looks set to leave Ewood Park as a free agent this summer, despite efforts by Rovers to tie him down to a new contract. The 23-year-old has spent the entirety of his senior career with the club, racking up 210 appearances across five seasons.

Boro Links Denied

Dolan’s next destination has been a source of rumours over the past few weeks, and a new report from the Lancashire Telegraph has denied any links with Dolan and Middlesbrough. Michael Carrick’s side were linked with making a free agent move at the start of the month by Graeme Bailey.

Norwich City are known to be interested in the player, with the Canaries looking set for a rebuild as star players Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent are set to head out of the door. Loanee Lewis Dobbin has been targeted for a second spell at Carrow Road from Aston Villa, with now-sacked boss Johannes Hoff Thorup in favour of a return.

Dolan has been linked with other destinations, including both Glasgow sides in Celtic and Rangers, but the Lancashire Telegraph has also quashed those links due to a lack of credible reporting.

Writers’ View

Tyrhys Dolan’s future will not be decided immediately but it feels that Norwich is the standout choice for him. The Canaries will have plenty of funds to invest with this summer and with Liam Manning heading to the club from Bristol City, it is a positive time at Carrow Road. However, this window is a major rebuild for the club with many Premier League-calibre players heading elsewhere so City may not be immediate challengers for promotion. Dolan himself has had his best season yet for Blackburn Rovers, but will have some tough boots to fill with how Borja Sainz has delivered in wide areas.
