West Bromwich Albion have entered the race to sign LASK left wing-back George Bello, with sources confirming both they and Rangers are considering a £1 million swoop.
he 23-year-old United States international is under contract with the Austrian Bundesliga side until 2026 but looks increasingly likely to move on this summer. Bello has enjoyed a consistent campaign in Austria, making 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and contributing three assists.
He also featured in the UEFA Europa Conference League, playing a key role as LASK continue their pursuit of European qualification via the Austrian play-offs.
Long Term Rangers Target
The defender has been on Rangers’ radar for three years, but the Baggies have now joined the conversation as they look to strengthen a squad that narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs. The club parted ways with Tony Mowbray shortly before the end of the season and remain without a permanent manager—though their recruitment plans continue to advance.
Bello’s profile fits the modern Championship mould: a quick, attacking full-back with top-level experience in both Germany and Austria. He moved to Europe in January 2022, joining Arminia Bielefeld from Atlanta United, where he had already won an MLS Cup and earned acclaim for his attacking energy and composure on the ball.

George Bello’s Career So Far
Born in Abuja, Nigeria, and raised in Georgia, USA, Bello came through the Atlanta United academy and signed his first professional contract in 2017. He was named U15/16 Player of the Year and made his senior debut in 2018, scoring his first MLS goal at just 16. Despite injury setbacks, he eventually earned a move to Germany before heading to LASK in July 2023.
Internationally, Bello boasts seven senior caps for the United States and was part of the Gold Cup-winning squad in 2021. However, he has not featured for the national side since 2022, and a move to British football could reignite his international ambitions.
With both Rangers and West Brom currently looking for a manager, it remains unclear who will ultimately lead the pursuit. However, sources suggest the player would be open to a move to either side, seeing both as valuable steps in his European career.
Writer’s View
This is an astute target for West Brom. George Bello has quietly built a solid career in Europe, and at 23, he offers a mix of experience and untapped potential that’s perfect for the Championship. The £1m fee is affordable, and the player’s attacking instincts would suit a side looking to play progressive football.
Given Rangers’ longstanding interest, Albion may need to move quickly to gain the upper hand. With a new managerial appointment looming, Bello could become a foundational signing in a summer rebuild that needs smart, forward-thinking additions.
