‘Coming To Win’ – Ryan Reynolds Drops Huge Wrexham Transfer Hint

Ryan Reynolds has declared Wrexham will be “as aggressive as possible” in the transfer market this summer as the club prepares for life in the Championship.

The co-owner revealed the extent of their ambition during an appearance on the RobRyanRed podcast, as Wrexham chase up to five signings ahead of the new season. Speaking on the club’s ambitions, Reynolds was candid about the balance between spending and sustainability:

“We’re coming to win. I can’t give you a dollar figure, but I can tell you that we are going to be as aggressive as we can possibly be while being mindful of sustainability. We have a stadium to revamp, but will still maintain its character and culture.”

Wrexham Set for Statement Summer

Reynolds confirmed that while the club will continue to act sustainably, it has no intention of playing it safe following a third successive promotion. Manager Phil Parkinson, who has overseen Wrexham’s rise since 2021, is working within a clear recruitment philosophy: no egos, no superstars — just committed professionals with proven quality.

The club have already been linked with a series of high-profile targets, including experienced Premier League and Championship performers. Among them is Aaron Cresswell, with Wrexham reportedly leading the race to sign the departing West Ham United left-back. The 35-year-old is said to favour a return to the north west, and a competitive financial package is believed to be on offer from the Racecourse.

Another target is Harry Darling, currently at Swansea City. The 24-year-old defender is out of contract this summer, and while the Swans remain hopeful of agreeing a new deal, Wrexham and Birmingham City have both expressed interest. Swansea’s director of football Richard Montague confirmed talks are ongoing but admitted the player must do “what’s right for him and his family.”

Writer’s View

There’s no question that Wrexham mean business. Backed by star power but grounded in smart recruitment, the club are not just aiming to survive in the Championship — they’re looking to thrive.

Targeting players like Darling and Cresswell shows an intent to blend top-level experience with Championship-hardened quality. If they can pull off even two or three of these signings, Wrexham could hit the ground running in a division where momentum and depth are critical.

This summer will be pivotal. Wrexham’s story has captivated audiences off the pitch — now, they’re ready to write the next chapter where it matters most.
