Coventry City’s attacking midfielder Jack Rudoni is attracting serious interest from Premier League side Newcastle United, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Sky Blues from Huddersfield Town last summer, played a starring role in Frank Lampard’s side this season, registering 10 goals and 13 assists across 50 appearances in all competitions. Now, he’s being scouted by top-flight clubs as Coventry prepare for another season in the Championship.
Newcastle’s interest comes as their financial outlook improves, with Profit and Sustainability Regulation (PSR) restrictions easing ahead of the summer transfer window. Eddie Howe’s side are expected to be active, and Rudoni is seen as a potential squad addition who could add creativity and tactical flexibility.
Key Figure In Coventry’s Promotion Push
Although Rudoni’s start at Coventry was steady, his form blossomed under Lampard’s guidance. Initially brought in by Mark Robins, the former AFC Wimbledon midfielder found a rhythm in the second half of the season, excelling in both a central attacking midfield role and as the left-sided option in a midfield three.
His output was among the best in the Championship, with nine league goals and 12 assists placing him among the most productive midfielders outside the Premier League.
Rudoni signed a four-year deal with Coventry upon joining last summer, keeping him contracted at the CBS Arena until 2028. Given the club’s recruitment model, a sale is far from guaranteed. Coventry have a track record of resisting early bids in favour of developing players further and commanding higher fees down the line.

Premier League Clubs Circle, But Sky Blues Hold Firm
With stars like Milan van Ewijk and Haji Wright also attracting attention, Coventry could be braced for a testing summer. However, there’s no indication Rudoni is pushing for a move, and his status as a key figure under Lampard suggests any sale would require a significant offer.
The Sky Blues’ narrow play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland has not dented their reputation as one of the Championship’s best footballing sides, and their ambition remains clear heading into the new season.
Writer’s View
Jack Rudoni has shown he can be a game-changer in the Championship, and his growing influence at Coventry is no surprise. Newcastle’s interest is logical – he’s young, technically gifted, and tactically versatile – but Coventry won’t let him go cheaply.
With a long contract and a system that suits him, Rudoni may be best served staying put for another season. Unless the Magpies offer a deal too good to refuse, Coventry could be wise to hold their ground and continue building around one of their most prized assets.
