As many as six clubs are set to battle it out for the signature of Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon this summer, according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
The 24-year-old joined the Imps in 2023 for an undisclosed fee from Scottish outfit St Mirren. He has since become a mainstay of Michael Skubala’s midfield, racking up 107 appearances.
Erhahon is a player who has long been touted for a move up the football pyramid. His performances at the LNER Stadium have consistently shown a level which is beyond League One, and he was linked with a move away from the club both last summer and in January.
This prompted director of football Jez George to admit that the former Scotland under-21 international is likely to be sold in the future, although the fee he attracts could eclipse the £640,000 they received for Harry Toffolo in 2020.
Erhahon Set For Championship Move?
Lincoln fans have long accepted that Erhahon has played his last game in red and white. Via EFL Analysis, Graeme Bailey claims that six clubs are currently considering a move, including Preston North End and Plymouth Argyle.
Both clubs were among the interested parties in January, although Plymouth now perhaps move to the back of the queue following their relegation to League One. It is also claimed that Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Millwall and Oxford United are all monitoring the situation.
The midfielder missed 12 games through injury between February and April, but returned to finish the season as a late substitute in a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town. He started the last three games of the season, culminating in the 2-0 final day defeat against promoted Wrexham.
Writer’s View
This is probably the least surprsing transfer story of the summer thus far. Erhahon is the crown jewel of Lincoln’s squad and everyone at Sincil Bank accepted that he would move on at the end of the season. Whilst there is no way of knowing whether this report is accurate, there will definitely be interest from the Championship. However, the Imps hold the upper hand in this situation, with the midfielder still under contract. They are a well run club who won’t be held to ransom. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them generate their first £1 million+ sale.
