Fleur Robinson is to leave her role as Chief Executive Officer of Burton Albion this summer, the League One club has confirmed.
Robinson, who returned to the Pirelli Stadium in 2024 following a three-year stint as CEO at Wrexham, exits by mutual agreement after what the club described as a “transitional year.” Her departure marks the end of more than two decades of involvement with Burton Albion, dating back to the 1994/95 season.
Burton Statement
In a statement reflecting on her tenure, Robinson said:
“Burton Albion has a special place in my heart after helping it grow from the second tier of non-league to the Championship over more than 25 years in my first spell at the Club. “It was a pleasure to return to the Pirelli Stadium and work alongside old colleagues, sponsors and supporters again and I want to thank them all for their support during what has been an immensely challenging season.”
Robinson also praised manager Gary Bowyer and his squad for maintaining the club’s League One status in a campaign that tested the club both on and off the field.
“I want to congratulate Gary Bowyer, his staff and players on the incredible turnaround in our fortunes on the field. Burton Albion is my hometown club and an important part of mine and my family’s life. I will miss it very much, but I’m now looking to the future and I’m excited by the chance to explore new opportunities.”
Tom Davidson, speaking on behalf of the club’s owners Nordic Football Group, expressed gratitude for Robinson’s role during a pivotal year for the club.
“To have someone with Fleur’s experience and such a strong connection to Burton Albion with us during this transitional year has been invaluable. We all wish her the very best for what comes next in her career. We will update supporters on our plans for the new senior leadership team in the coming days.”
Robinson’s departure comes after a season in which the Brewers battled against relegation, ultimately securing their League One status under Bowyer’s stewardship. Her previous tenure with the club saw Burton rise through the football pyramid, culminating in their spell in the Championship.
Writer’s View
Fleur Robinson’s exit closes a significant chapter in Burton Albion’s modern history. Her off-field leadership has been instrumental in the club’s growth from non-league obscurity to second-tier football. While this past year has been difficult, her decision to return was a stabilising influence during a period of ownership transition.
With Nordic Football Group now fully settled, the next CEO will inherit both the legacy of steady progress and the challenge of pushing the Brewers to greater heights. Supporters will hope Robinson’s successor can match her deep-rooted commitment and guiding hand through change.
