Birmingham City are working on a sensational deal to bring former fan-favourite Che Adams back to St Andrew’s, Football Insider has suggested.
The 28-year-old striker, who currently plays for Torino in Serie A, is reportedly on the radar of the League One champions as they build towards a Championship return. Club sources suggest that Birmingham are preparing to offer a “blockbuster” contract to lure the Scotland international back to England.
Adams left Southampton last summer to join Torino on a free transfer and has since notched 10 goals and four assists across 34 appearances for the Italian side. Despite having two years left on his current deal, the Blues are confident they can tempt him back to spearhead their ambitious campaign in the second tier.
The forward is no stranger to life at St Andrew’s, having made his mark with Birmingham between 2016 and 2019. During that spell, he scored 22 goals in the 2018–19 Championship season alone, establishing himself as one of the division’s most lethal finishers.
Proven Pedigree Fuelling Birmingham’s Ambition
Adams’ track record makes him a dream signing for a club with promotion on their mind. Across his time with Sheffield United, Southampton, and Birmingham, he has amassed 49 goals in the Championship, along with 25 in the Premier League. Add to that his 33 caps and six goals for Scotland, and it’s clear why Birmingham are pulling out all the stops.
He enjoyed a solid season in Serie A, but with Torino finishing mid-table and the player now well into his prime, Birmingham hope the chance to return to a leading role in a title-challenging team will prove persuasive.
“Birmingham City are working on a deal to re-sign Torino forward Che Adams,” Football Insider said on Twitter. “Super-ambitious Birmingham have targeted Adams as they look to sign a proven spearhead capable of scoring 25+ goals in the Championship next season..”
Adams’ return would mark a major coup for manager Tony Mowbray, who has been tasked with building a side capable of immediate impact at Championship level.

Che Adams is a statement target for Birmingham City—one that signals serious intent. With promotion secured, the club are clearly aiming higher than mid-table consolidation. Adams brings not just goals but leadership and experience. The move makes perfect sense for Birmingham, and if they can pull it off, it may be the Championship’s signing of the summer.
