Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Portsmouth go into this fixture knowing that their goal of Championship survival is secured no matter what happens.

Pompey have put a four match undefeated run together at just the right time to ensure their participation in the second tier next season.

Last time out, the Fratton Park side held Sheffield Wednesday to a draw at Hillsborough after Harvey Blair levelled a Callum Paterson opener for the hosts.

It was an enjoyable Easter weekend for John Mousinho’s men as they took all six points available to them from Norwich City and Watford.

On Good Friday, Carrow Road played host to an eight goal thriller that was edged 5-3 by the visitors. Colby Bishop helped himself to a hat trick with Matt Ritchie and Regan Poole compeleting the scoring.

Watford were the visitors to Fratton Park on Easter Monday and were dominated by an impressive Pompey performance, with Colby Bishop grabbing the only goal of the game.

Portsmouth have scored 57 times this season at an average of 1.3 per match with Colby Bishop helping himself to 11 of those, one ahead of Callum Lang. Josh Murphy has been in fine creative form this season, assisting 14 goals this term.

Pompey do have, despite securing safety, the second worst defensive record in the league after conceding 70 on 45 matches so far at an average of 1.6 per game.

Hull City have managed just one win from their last five matches and warmed up for their visit to Fratton Park with a defeat in their crucial relegation battle with Derby County.

Victory for the Tigers would have achieved safety but they went down 1-0 thanks to a late Nathaniel Phillips strike at the MKM Stadium.

Hull claimed victory on Easter Monday against a Preston North Emd side in freefall. Two penalties from Joe Gelhardt were enough to secure the come from win.

An agonising defeat with ten men at Swansea City on Good Friday had followed a point against playoff hopefuls Coventry City.

Matt Grimes had given the Sky Blues the lead before Abu Kamara grabbed a late, and potentially vital, point with just eight minutes left to play.

Despite their precarious league position, Hull’s away form has been excellent this season. On the road, the Tigers are a top eight side having claimed 25 points and seven wins from their 22 matches.

Hull have only scored 43 league goals this season, a record bettering only Luton Town. Top scorer Joao Pedro has six goals to his name, followed by Abu Kamara and Joe Gelhardt who are both on five. Kamara leads the assists chart with three alongside Marvin Mehlem who has been on loan in Germany since January.

Ruben Selles has seen his side concede just 53 goals so far this season, another top eight achievement, but have kept just seven clean sheets.

The reverse fixture in November saw these two sides play out a 1-1 draw at The MKM Stadium.

Joao Pedro gave Hull the lead just 11 minutes in only for Josh Murphy to level matters just after half time.

Before this season, the last time these two came up against each other was back in the 2020-21 campaign as both clubs were competing in League One.

Hull would go on to win the division but were beaten at home by Portsmouth just before Christmas. A Jacob Greaves own goal and a another from Josh Magennis handed Pompey the victory despite having no shots on target.

There was another own goal double in the fixture at Fratton Park as the eventual champions show their class and disposed of Portsmouth comfortably.

A pair of own goals from Jack Whatmough alongside strikes from George Honeyman and Josh Magennis saw the Tigers run out with a 4-0 victory.

Meetings between Portsmouth and Hull City have been rate of recent seasons and there had been a gap of over eight years from their last encounter and the League One fixtures.

The last six encounters have seen Portsmouth win twice, Hull claim three wins and a solitary draw.
