Leyton Orient are continuing their pursuit of St Mirren midfielder Caolan Boyd-Munce, with the League One side reportedly still keen to secure his signature once the season concludes.
The 25-year-old Northern Ireland international is approaching the end of his contract in Scotland and is poised to become a free agent in June, despite being offered new terms by the Buddies.
Orient reignite interest in creative midfielder
The O’s had a bid rejected for Boyd-Munce in January but have maintained their interest, according to journalist Anthony Joseph. With the club sitting 9th in League One — five points adrift of the play-offs with five games to go — there’s already an eye on how the squad could be strengthened ahead of next season.
Boyd-Munce has made 29 appearances in all competitions for St Mirren this term, contributing five goals and an assist. His performances have reportedly caught the eye of other EFL sides too, though Leyton Orient remain firmly in the mix.
Wigan Athletic were also linked with the player last year, but no move materialised, and he has since become a regular fixture in the St Mirren midfield.
UPDATE: St Mirren have offered midfielder Caolan Boyd-Munce a new contract.
The 25-year-old’s current deal expires this summer and he is attracting interest from clubs in England.

From Glentoran to EFL radar
After joining Birmingham City’s Academy in 2016, Northern Irish midfielder Caolan Boyd-Munce quickly impressed, earning praise for his engine and technical ability. Despite a heavy FA Youth Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea, he became a development squad regular, earning a pro deal in 2019.
Boyd-Munce debuted competitively in a 2019 EFL Cup tie and made several Championship appearances, though injury and competition limited his opportunities. He moved to Middlesbrough in 2022, scoring in the FA Cup but featuring just twice in the league before a mutual departure in 2023.
A fresh start came at St Mirren, where he signed a short-term deal in March. He earned a contract extension to 2025 after meeting appearance targets, finally enjoying consistent top-flight football in Scotland.
Writer’s view
Boyd-Munce’s situation represents a low-risk, high-reward opportunity for League One clubs. For Orient, whose play-off ambitions remain alive but slim, planning for next season’s midfield reinforcements makes sense. The Northern Ireland man brings creativity, energy and experience across both English and Scottish football — the kind of profile Richie Wellens could use to push Orient further up the table in 2025/26.
