Our Three Predictions For Leyton Orient vs Stevenage

        • Prediction 1 – Charlie Kelman To Score – 11/4
        • Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 13/10
        • Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 2/1

First Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Stevenage – Charlie Kelman To Score – 11/4

Kelman has been Orient’s talisman for much of this season and it was his contributions that sealed a much needed three points against Blackpool in their last game. The 23-year-old has 10 goal contributions since the turn of the year, the most of anyone in League One since then. He is also the most successful player in terms of getting shots on target, ahead of Rotherham United‘s Malik Wilks. The Queens Park Rangers loanee may have not wanted their game against Mansfield Town postponed this weekend, but as proved by his goal against Reading back in September following a fortnight’s rest, he can deliver after a break. Stevenage have only kept two clean sheets in 13 games so there are plenty of opportunities for Kelman and Orient to add to their tallies.

Second Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Stevenage – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 13/10

These are two volatile sides competing against each other. Stevenage, as mentioned have only kept two clean sheets since the end of January but in that same period only failed to score in three of those games. Perhaps a benefit for Boro is the variation in goalscorers they have, with Dan Kemp and Jake Young able to cause issues up front whilst Carl Piergianni is a constant threat at set pieces and was their goalscorer in their last match against Reading. Orient have been stifled in recent games, coinciding with a dry spell for key creative force Jamie Donley. With an average of 1.43, Richie Wellens’ side have scored big in the past, with heavy victories over Exeter City and Mansfield, two of the sides breathing down the necks of Stevenage.

Third Prediction For Leyton Orient vs Stevenage – Match To End In A Draw – 2/1

With inconsistency characterising the form of both sides, a draw could be the most likely outcome. However, sharing the honours is a rarity for Orient, who with five draws have the least of any third tier side. Stevenage has had two score draws in their last five matches. With two key players in Jamie Donley and Ethan Galbraith with Northern Ireland on international duty for the home side, they will have a short turnaround to this Thursday’s game. They travel to Sweden for a game on Tuesday night, putting their involvement in doubt and that might stifle Orient’s ability to seize this match and therefore both sides could share the honours at full time.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Leyton Orient will have had a two week break by the time they face Stevenage this Thursday, perhaps at a bad time following a much-needed win over Blackpool in their previous game. Charlie Kelman’s brace at Bloomfield Road sealed their first win in five matches, with all of those being losses. Since the start of February, Richie Wellens side have lost seven times, with just four wins in that period. Those losses have had a detrimental impact on their play-off ambitions, with their form only being better than Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town, who are 23rd and 24th respectively. They sit five points off of Huddersfield Town in sixth place, and a win for Orient would see them at least temporarliy jump past Reading into eighth.

Stevenage are a further seven points behind their hosts this weekend, with Boro’s hopes of a playoff berth being very slim heading into this contest. However, Alex Revell’s side have a game in hand on a few of the sides above them due to their match against Birmingham City being postponed due to callups in the Blues’ squad. A win against Leyton Orient would take them above Lincoln City ahead of The Imps’ match against Wycombe Wanderers. In terms of form, Stevenage have only won once in their last five against Cambridge, with two draws against Mansfield and Reading and two losses to Huddersfield and Birmingham. They drew 1-1 with The Royals in their last game, with defender Carl Piergianni scoring, redeeming his own goal at the other end ten minutes prior.

Leyton Orient and Stevenage have been regular adversaries since 2011, and it is Thursday’s home team who hold the advantage in that time, with 10 wins to Stevenage’s six. Eight draws have been played out, but only one of the last five contests ended with shared honours in the reverse league fixture back in November. Their most recent match was in the EFL Trophy knockouts in January, when a Brandon Cooper own goal eliminated Orient at home.
