Levi Sutton will not play for Harrogate Town again this season after a scan revealed the severity of the hamstring injury he sustained against Carlisle United.
The 27-year-old central midfielder was forced from the field in the first half of the 1-0 home win over the Cumbrians at Wetherby Road.
Manager Simon Weaver has since confirmed that the injury will sideline Sutton for the remainder of the campaign, ruling him out until after the club’s final League Two fixture of 2024/25, which takes place away at Morecambe.
“He is ruled out for the remaining weeks of the season,” Weaver said.
Another Major Injury Blow
The news comes just days after another Harrogate midfielder, Tom Hill, was also ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury picked up in the goalless draw at Port Vale. Weaver acknowledged the setback, saying:
“It’s another blow for us. I think that Levi has been brilliant since that Barrow return for him in early January. He has kept his form at a very consistent level.”

Squad Depth to be Tested
Despite losing two key midfielders, Weaver is confident his squad has enough depth to cope with the challenges ahead.
“It’s another midfielder, unfortunately. But we have got good strength in depth, and it is an opportunity for someone to step into the breach and prove their worth as well.”
The Harrogate boss added:
“It is a good job that this is an area of the pitch where we are blessed with some depth – we have some good players and some quality lads, so we do have options.”
Levi Sutton Career So Far
Sutton came up through Bottesford Town and Scunthorpe United, signing his first pro deal in 2015. He made his league debut in 2016 and later had loan spells at North Ferriby and Harrogate. After switching to right-back, he joined Bradford City in 2020 and was offered a new deal in 2022.
In 2023, he moved to The Sulphurites on a free transfer.
Other Injury Concerns
On top of Sutton and Hill’s injuries, experienced forward Jack Muldoon remains sidelined due to an eye ulcer, while long-term absentee George Thomson is still recovering from the Achilles injury he suffered on the opening day of the season.
Writer’s View
With Harrogate Town still fighting for survival in League Two, Weaver will have to rely on his squad’s resilience and depth to maintain their strong form. The team is set to face Morecambe in their final game of the season, and every match leading up to that will be crucial.
