Harrogate Town have been dealt a significant injury setback with three key players sidelined, including former Liverpool midfielder Tom Hill, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Just as the Sulphurites’ injury list appeared to be clearing, Hill, a January signing, suffered a hamstring injury during Tuesday’s draw at Port Vale, bringing an early end to his campaign. Fellow midfielder Levi Sutton and veteran forward Jack Muldoon are also facing time on the sidelines, compounding Town’s selection woes.
Weaver Frustrated by Fresh Injury Concerns
Manager Simon Weaver confirmed the extent of Hill’s injury, expressing disappointment at losing the 22-year-old just as he was settling into the squad.
“Tom Hill pulled his hamstring in the week,” Weaver explained. “We will be without him for the rest of the season, unfortunately.”
Hill had impressed in his first couple of starts for the club, producing standout performances against Accrington Stanley and Port Vale. His absence will be a big blow for a Harrogate side looking to finish the season strongly.
Meanwhile, Sutton also suffered a hamstring problem and was forced off in the 32nd minute of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Carlisle United. However, Weaver remains hopeful that his absence will be shorter than Hill’s.
“Levi is sore, it’s another hamstring problem,” he added. “Hopefully it won’t be too bad. He stopped at the right moment, he had just been fouled and pulled up and he felt his hamstring.”

Muldoon and Illness Add to Harrogate’s Selection Woes
Harrogate’s forward options have also been impacted, with 35-year-old Muldoon sidelined due to an eye ulcer that could keep him out for several more weeks.
“Mullers has got a problem with his eye,” Weaver revealed. “It’s an eye ulcer and it could be a problem for a couple of weeks.”
The club has also been dealing with an illness outbreak, which saw several players bed-ridden last week. Centre-back Anthony O’Connor was among the worst affected but managed to return for the Carlisle clash. However, winger James Daly is still recovering from a flu-like virus.
“James has been ill for more than a week,” Weaver said. “He came in for a little bit of training, but you could see he was still blowing on Friday, and Saturday was just too soon for him.”
Writer’s View
Harrogate’s momentum has been halted by injuries at a crucial stage of the season, just as they were regaining key players. Hill’s absence is particularly frustrating, given his strong start, while Sutton and Muldoon’s issues further limit Weaver’s options. With players still recovering from illness, the squad’s depth will be tested in the coming weeks. Harrogate will need to show resilience if they are to maintain their form as they head into the final stretch of the campaign.
