Blackpool Loanee To Return For Injury Rehabilitation

Blackpool striker Kylian Kouassi will return to the club for rehabilitation after suffering another hamstring injury while on loan at Salford City.

The 21-year-old, who has struggled with recurring hamstring issues in the past, has made 31 appearances for Karl Robinson’s League Two side this season. However, his campaign has been disrupted once again, and he now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

Bruce Concerned Over Kouassi’s Fitness

Kouassi previously underwent surgery for a hamstring injury last summer and had a minor scare before Christmas. While this latest setback does not require further surgery, Blackpool boss Steve Bruce admits it is a worrying situation.

“Thankfully he doesn’t need an operation, but he’s got a long road ahead again,” Bruce said. “It’s a worrying situation for him because of the number of times he’s done it. It’s a different part of the muscle, but he’s torn his hamstring again—badly.”

Kouassi originally joined Blackpool from Sutton United in the summer of 2023, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 24 appearances during his debut season. His move to Salford was intended to aid his development and fitness, but this latest injury has cast doubt over his progress.

Further Tests to Assess Severity

Blackpool are awaiting further scans to determine the full extent of the injury, but Bruce has acknowledged the significant nature of the setback.

“It doesn’t look good. He’s having more scans. The size of the tear is significant, and it’s the third time it’s happened to the boy. It’s upsetting for everyone concerned,” Bruce added.

“He went there on the back of an injury to get some fitness, but he’s had a relapse, and this one looks serious. It’s a concern for all of us just to keep the boy healthy.”

Writer’s View

Kouassi’s recurring injury troubles are becoming a major concern for both Blackpool and his long-term career prospects. His time at Salford was meant to provide valuable experience and regular football, but another significant hamstring issue raises questions over his ability to stay fit. While no surgery is required, a cautious approach will be necessary to prevent further setbacks. Blackpool will be hoping their young forward can make a full recovery, but his repeated injury struggles are an increasing worry.
