Plymouth Argyle manager Miron Muslic has updated fans on the fitness of several players ahead of the club’s midweek game against Hull City.
After this weekend’s FA Cup loss to Manchester City, attention turns to the subject of Championship survival. Plymouth are still right in the fight but have a better chance of staying up than before, having been dragged up by new boss Muslic.
With Hull coming into this game rested, Plymouth may be fatigued and do have a few injury issues. Midfielder Adam Randell missed the weekend’s game, and Muslic has issued this update on Plymouth’s X account:
“Adam is still a doubt, he’s 50/50 for Tuesday. He picked up a minor quad injury against Cardiff. It was a wise decision not to keep him involved for Manchester City.”
As well as Randell, updates were issued on other key players. Striker Ryan Hardie, who has been so crucial this season, is set to return to training this week after a back issue, but the Hull game looks too soon for him. Despite the setbacks, there was one positive, with club captain Joe Edwards set to return after a long-term hamstring problem.
Tuesday’s game is a huge one in the Championship relegation battle, with both teams fighting for their lives at the bottom of the division. A Plymouth win wouldn’t get them out of the drop zone but they would be level on points with Hull, which would give them a good chance. On the other hand, a Hull win would pull them further clear of danger, so this is a key game for both sides, who will want full squads for the match.

This is a mixed bag for Plymouth. While the absences are frustrating, especially talisman Hardie, the leadership of Edwards will be much valued on his return. This week’s game is huge and a must-win for Plymouth in their fight to stay up and while it’s frustrating to not have key players involved, they can’t risk jeopardising the rest of the season for the sake of one game, however important it may be.
