Our Three Predictions For Cardiff City vs Hull City

  • First Prediction: Hull City – Draw No Bet – 1/1
  • Second Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals – 33/50
  • Third Prediction: Over 8.5 Corners – 33/100

First Prediction For Cardiff City vs Hull City – Hull City – Draw No Bet – 1/1

The two relegation candidates enter this game separated by just one place in the league table. Hull moved above Cardiff at the weekend on goal difference following an excellent 1-0 win against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Meanwhile, the Bluebirds had to settle for a point against fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle.

Despite their lowly position, Cardiff’s home form has been good as of late. They are unbeaten in front of their own supporters in their last five league outings, with promotion-chasing Sheffield United the last team to come away from South Wales with three points. They do enter this game on a run of four games without a win though.

Ruben Selles has failed to hit any kind of consistency since taking over Hull in December, although he has picked up enough points to drag them out of the relegation zone. This has largely been down to their away form, where they have won four of their last five games on the road. This is no mean feat either considering the teams they have beaten have all been in the top half, picking up three points at Sunderland, Sheffield United, Millwall and Blackburn Rovers. Although they have been really poor at the MKM Stadium, they are a different animal outside of East Yorkshire. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them earn another victory here, but backing them on a draw no bet option will see your stake returned if the scores end level.

Second Prediction For Cardiff City vs Hull City – Under 2.5 Goals – 33/50

With both teams fighting for their lives towards the bottom of the table, this could be a fairly tetchy affair. Cardiff have drawn their last two games 1-1, a scoreline that they have experienced in five of their last 10 fixtures.

Similarly, Hull’s last three outings have all produced under three goals. They also drew 1-1 with Norwich City, a result which sandwiched the 1-0 victory over Sunderland and a 2-0 defeat against Burnley. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see this game produce a low-scoring draw or be settled by a solitary goal.

Third Prediction For Cardiff City vs Hull City – Over 8.5 Corners – 33/100

Changing tact, there could be value in the corners market when these two meet at the Cardiff City Stadium. The Bluebirds are averaging 4.82 corners a game this season, but they are also averaging 5.09 corners against. They have seen this bet come in in 58% of their Championship fixtures thus far. This average has come down slightly since the weekend, with Plymouth failing to win a single corner, whilst Cardiff had six. Argyle have won the fewest this season though, averaging just 3.09 per game.

Hull’s average is slightly higher than their opponents, with 61% of their fixtures this season seeing at least nine corners. They are also at 58% for over 9.5 in this market and are averaging 4.82 and 5.27 against. The previous meeting between the two in September say 12 corners.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

Although they sit just one place and three points above the bottom three, Cardiff’s form since the turn of the year hasn’t been bad. They have lost just two of their 10 league outings since New Year’s Day whilst also progressing to the FA Cup fifth round with wins over Sheffield United and Stoke City. However, they have stumbled in recent weeks, with those two losses coming in quick succession at the beginning of this month against Leeds United and Portsmouth. The former was a horrific display which saw them thumped 7-0. Omer Riza’s team have recovered slightly, drawing their last two games against Bristol City and Plymouth, although they will perhaps be disappointed not to have beaten the Pilgrims.

Hull are also in indifferent form heading into this game. That victory over Sunderland at the weekend was a huge boost and ended a run of three games without a win. They did draw 1-1 with Norwich City the week prior at the MKM Stadium as they once again dropped points in front of their own supporters. Their squad is capable of much more than their 20th-placed position suggests, but they really need to start picking up more points at home. However, they have won four of their last five on the road.

On paper, recent clashes between the two suggest this should be a walk in the park for Hull. The Tigers have won the last seven meetings, including a 4-1 victory in the reverse fixture in September. Cardiff’s last win against their relegation rivals came at the Cardiff City Stadium in 2020, where they played out a 3-0 victory in an empty stadium due to COVID restrictions.
