Our Three Predictions For Manchester City vs Plymouth Argyle

  • First Prediction: Manchester City To Win -2 Handicap – 13/20
  • Second Prediction: Manchester City – Half Time/Full Time – 1/4
  • Third Prediction: Omar Marmoush – Any Time Scorer – 17/25

First Prediction For Manchester City vs Plymouth Argyle – Manchester City To Win -2 Handicap – 13/20

Miron Muslic takes his Plymouth Argyle team to the home of the English champions this weekend for their highly anticipated FA Cup fifth round clash. They have already made headlines in this competition after ending Liverpool’s hopes of an unprecedented quadruple with a 1-0 win. This followed another impressive victory in the third round over Premier League outfit Brentford.

There has been a big upturn in results since Muslic’s appointment in January. They have lost just one of their last five league games and are now just three points from safety. Despite their excellent cup run, Championship survival will remain the priority and although they will be hopeful of another upset, they are likely to come up against a Manchester City side with the bit between their teeth.

The FA Cup represents Pep Guardiola’s last chance to secure some major silverware this season. They crashed out of the Champions League against Real Madrid last week and are a staggering 20 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League. They have already beaten Salford City and Leyton Orient enroute to the fifth round and will be looking for a resounding win to secure their place in the quarter final.

Second Prediction For Manchester City vs Plymouth Argyle – Manchester City Half Time/Full Time – 1/4

Manchester City survived a scare in the previous round against Leyton Orient, but there is more riding on this game than their opponents here. They welcome Plymouth to the Etihad Stadium fresh off the back of a morale boosting win over Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.

They will be expected to make light work of the Pilgrims, but Guardiola will be wary of what happened to Liverpool and could be tempted to field a fairly strong lineup. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the likes of Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Kevin Bruyne deployed from the start in order to gain an early goal or two to settle the nerves of the home support.

Third Prediction For Manchester City vs Plymouth Argyle – Omar Marmoush – Any Time Scorer – 17/25

Omer Marmoush arrived at the Etihad in a big-money deal last month from Eintracht Frankfurt and is likely to lead the line for Manchester City. He has played in an array of positions across the front line in the Premier League thus far but did start at the top of the pitch in the Cityzens previous FA Cup fixture against Leyton Orient. He may have failed to score that day but he soon got his name on the scoresheet the following week when he bagged a stunning hat trick against Newcastle United.

Taking into account his time at Frankfurt this season, the Egyptian international has 23 goals in all competitions and will be hoping he gets the chance to add to his tally here.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

Manchester City’s struggles have been well documented this season. They currently sit fourth in the Premier League and fell 20 points behind leaders Liverpool last weekend when they lost 2-0 to Arne Slot’s team. They have recovered since though with a narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night. However, there’s little doubt that February has been a month to forget for the 10-time English champions. They also lost 5-1 away at Arsenal whilst also crashing out of the Champions League following a 6-3 aggregate loss against Real Madrid. The FA Cup has offered some solitude though, having beaten Salford City 8-0 in the third round before avoiding an upset against Leyton Orient by coming from a goal down to win 2-1.

In stark contrast, February has been a month to remember for Plymouth. A 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion kickstarted the month before their historic victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup fourth round. They followed this by putting five past Millwall, but are winless in their last three. The Pilgrims lost 2-0 at Blackburn Rovers but have secured two potentially vital points in their last two outings with 1-1 draws against Luton Town and Cardiff City.

Unsurprisingly, this is the first meeting between the pair in 36 years. Manchester City have won the previous five clashes, two coming in Division Two (now the Championship), two in the League Cup and one in the FA Cup. Plymouth’s last victory was a 3-2 win in 1988.
