Burnley Keen On Signing £850,000 Forward In Summer

Burnley are in direct negotiations to sign Wycombe Wanderers forward Daniel Udoh, with the Championship club reportedly preparing an £850,000 bid for the 28-year-old striker.

Burnley’s Interest in Udoh

According to Africa Foot, Burnley have been monitoring Udoh’s performances throughout the season and are keen to secure his services in the summer transfer window. The Nigerian forward has netted eight goals and contributed two assists in 38 appearances for Wycombe, making him a key figure in their push for promotion from League One.

With Udoh under contract until 2027, Wycombe are in a strong position to negotiate, but Burnley’s interest remains firm. The Clarets, currently third in the Championship, are looking to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for a potential return to the Premier League.

“We are in direct contact with Burnley as well as Wycombe for an agreement regarding Dominic. Wycombe have been receptive but remain cautious of the distractions around him as they believe he is focused on helping the team achieve promotion,” a source close to Udoh’s agency told Africa Foot.

Wycombe’s Promotion Push and Burnley’s Offer

Wycombe, currently second in League One, are reluctant to lose a key player during a crucial phase of the season. However, Burnley are willing to let Udoh complete the campaign with the Chairboys before making the switch to Turf Moor in the summer.

The Clarets have reportedly tabled an £850,000 offer for Udoh, which could tempt Wycombe into a deal, but discussions are ongoing. The striker only joined the club from Shrewsbury Town in July 2024 and has played a pivotal role in their promotion charge.

Who is Daniel Udoh?

Udoh, born in Lagos, Nigeria, moved to England at nine and joined Luton Town’s development squad before moving to Stevenage. Released due to international duty, he played for several non-league clubs before impressing at Ilkeston.

In 2016, he joined Crewe Alexandra, later going on loan to multiple clubs before being released in 2018. He thrived at AFC Telford, earning a move to Shrewsbury Town in 2019. After five years, he joined Wycombe Wanderers in 2024.

Writer’s View

Burnley’s interest in Udoh is a sign of their intent to build a squad capable of competing at a higher level. The forward has been an important figure for Wycombe, and while the Chairboys would be reluctant to lose him, a move to Turf Moor could be an attractive next step in his career.

With all parties engaged in discussions, Udoh’s future will be one to watch as the season unfolds.
