Jaidon Anthony has confirmed that a contract clause could see him make a permanent move to Burnley from AFC Bournemouth, should the Clarets secure promotion to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Leeds United, struggled for game time at Elland Road, making just two league starts. His return to Bournemouth did not lead to first-team opportunities, prompting a loan move to Burnley, where he has since rediscovered his form.
“I’m loving it. Obviously, last year was very different, I didn’t play as much, but this year I’m just buzzing with the playing time,” Anthony told the Burnley Express. “Hopefully, I can keep helping the team, and we can achieve the success we want.”
The winger confirmed that a contract clause could trigger a permanent transfer if Burnley earns promotion.
Key Role in Burnley’s Promotion Push
Anthony has established himself as a key figure in Scott Parker’s squad, making 31 appearances so far this season. His contribution includes three goals and five assists, helping Burnley maintain their position in the Championship promotion race.
Parker’s side currently sits third in the table, just two points behind second-placed Sheffield United and seven points adrift of leaders Leeds United. With the season reaching its decisive phase, Anthony’s performances could be crucial in securing Burnley’s return to the top flight.

Jaidon Anthony Career
Anthony joined Weymouth on loan in January 2020, scoring once before returning to Bournemouth. He made his senior debut for the Cherries in December 2020, providing an assist against Preston North End. In August 2021, he became a first-team regular, impressing under Scott Parker and winning Bournemouth’s Player of the Month for November.
Anthony contributed crucial goals and assists during the club’s promotion push. In September 2023, he joined Leeds United on loan in a swap deal with Luis Sinisterra, scoring his first league goal for the Whites in a 3–0 win over Watford later that month.
What’s Next for Anthony?
With Burnley pushing for an automatic promotion spot, Anthony’s future remains uncertain but increasingly tied to the Clarets’ success. If they secure a Premier League return, the 25-year-old is expected to become a permanent fixture at Turf Moor.
For now, the focus remains on ensuring Burnley maintains its momentum and capitalises on their strong position in the league.
Writer’s View
Anthony’s resurgence at Burnley highlights how crucial the right environment can be for a player’s development. His struggles at Leeds seemed to stall his progress, but under Parker, he has found his rhythm again. Should Burnley secure promotion, a permanent deal seems like a natural step, giving both club and player the stability to continue their success in the Premier League.
