Hull City Pair Face Fitness Battle For Burnley Clash

Hull City manager Ruben Selles has confirmed that Cody Drameh and Lincoln remain major doubts for their Championship fixture against Burnley on Wednesday night.

The Tigers, currently sitting just one point above the relegation zone in 21st place, are desperate to return to winning ways after suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Stoke City last time out. However, injury concerns have hampered their preparations for the trip to Turf Moor.

Selection Dilemma for Selles

Speaking to HullLive, Selles provided an update on the fitness of his squad, highlighting Drameh and Lincoln as the key concerns.

“The only doubt that we have is Cody Drameh. He has not been able to train with the team until potentially tomorrow (Tuesday), so he’s going to be our doubt.

“After the (Stoke) game, he reported something in the knee and discomfort in the knee, and the pain has not been able to be relieved from that pain until really today (Monday), so that has been the issue.

“Lincoln has not been able to train in the last seven days because of discomfort after the Monday training last week, so he was literally back today (Monday), so that will make him doubtful for the game.”

Drameh, who joined Hull City last summer on a free transfer from Leeds United, has been a crucial part of the Tigers’ defensive setup this season. The 23-year-old has made 25 appearances across all competitions, with 24 coming in the league. He also netted a goal during a victory over QPR.

If Drameh is unable to feature, captain Lewie Coyle is the most likely candidate to replace him at right-back.

Lincoln, meanwhile, has yet to make his Hull City debut since arriving on loan from Fenerbahce in the January transfer window. The Brazilian forward was brought in to bolster the club’s attacking options but has struggled with fitness issues since his arrival.

Tough Test Ahead

Hull City travel to Turf Moor in good away form, having won their last three matches on the road against Blackburn Rovers, Millwall, and Sheffield United. However, they will face a tough challenge against a Burnley side looking to maintain their push for promotion.

The Tigers will need to be at full strength to stand a chance of securing a positive result, but with Drameh and Lincoln both in doubt, Selles may have to make some last-minute tactical adjustments.

Writer’s View

Hull City’s recent away form has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise difficult campaign. The potential absence of Drameh and Lincoln will be a concern, particularly given the defensive stability Drameh provides and the attacking depth Lincoln was expected to bring. With the Tigers fighting to stay above the relegation zone, every match is crucial, and they cannot afford to drop points easily.
