Kayne Ramsay has reflected on his injury nightmare after returning to full fitness just three months after suffering a knee injury during Charlton Athletic’s 1-1 draw with Stockport in October.
The 24-year-old, who had been a key figure at the start of the season, feared the worst when the injury occurred but is now back to full strength, having completed two back-to-back 90-minute performances as Charlton look to secure a top-six finish in League One.
Kayne Ramsay Injury
Ramsay admitted he feared a serious injury when he initially went down against Stockport, as he was unsure whether it was his ACL, PCL, or MCL. The uncertainty and pain left him fearing a long road to recovery, but after undergoing intense physio treatment, he is now playing at the level he was before the injury.
“I was devastated,” Ramsay said reflecting on the injury. “I pray every night and I pray before a game for no injuries and to get through the game. When it happened, because it was my knee, I didn’t know if it was my ACL, PCL or MCL. I just prayed it wasn’t the worst.”

The Road to Recovery
Ramsay’s recovery process was difficult, as he spent 10 days bed-bound and unable to move. He credited the Charlton physio team for helping him through the toughest days, ensuring he could return to the pitch sooner than expected. Ramsay was relieved that he avoided surgery, and his recovery took just three months, far quicker than initially anticipated.
“Credit to the staff and our physios, they helped me through it every single day and told me I was going to be fine. I feel exactly how I was before the injury. It could have had a seven or eight-month injury – I could have had surgery. The fact that our physio has done it in three months, I appreciate everything they have done for me.”
Ramsay’s Future at Charlton
Ramsay is pleased to return to a Charlton team that is in a strong position. He is hopeful of contributing to the team’s success in the remainder of the season. Having missed several months of action, Ramsay is eager to add to his performances and help Charlton achieve their goals. With a solid team spirit and the right mindset, Ramsay believes that the Addicks can push for promotion this year.
