Preston North End turned down loan enquiries for striker Milutin Osmajic during the January transfer window, chairman Peter Ridsdale has confirmed.
PNE Dismiss Loan Interest
The 25-year-old forward, who has been a key figure in Preston’s attack this season, remains under contract at Deepdale until the summer of 2027. He has netted 11 goals in all competitions so far this campaign, including six in the Championship.
Speaking to the Lancashire Post, Ridsdale revealed the club had no intention of allowing Osmajic to leave on loan.
“We had no permanent offers for Milutin this window. We had a couple of enquiries about loans which we just laughed off. Why would we loan him? I’m not being funny but you know he’s a goal scorer and has immense value which is growing every day.”
Osmajic’s Importance to PNE
Keeping hold of Osmajic is a major boost for Preston, who remain in contention for a strong finish in the Championship. As Ridsdale suggested, the club see the Montenegro international as a valuable asset whose stock continues to rise.
With two and a half years remaining on his contract, Preston are under no pressure to sell the striker and will only entertain offers that meet their valuation.
Osmajic’s Career So Far
Osmajic joined Preston in September 2023 and scored eight goals in his first season with the club. Prior to his move to Deepdale, he was on the books at Spanish side Cádiz between 2021 and 2023, where he managed one goal in 14 appearances.
He also had loan spells at Bandırmaspor in Turkey and FC Vizela in Portugal before making the switch to England. On the international stage, Osmajic has earned 20 caps for Montenegro.
What’s Next for Osmajic?
Preston will be looking for Osmajic to add to his goal tally in the coming weeks, with a crucial FA Cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers on the horizon. The Lilywhites will also aim to bounce back in the league after their 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers last time out.
Writer’s View
Preston’s decision to reject loan interest in Osmajic is a clear indication of their ambition. With his contract running until 2027, the club hold the advantage in any future transfer negotiations. If the striker continues to find the net, his value will only increase, putting Preston in a strong position should they eventually decide to cash in.
