Wycombe Wanderers Secure Premier League Talent On Permanent Deal

Wycombe Wanderers have strengthened their squad for the League One promotion race with the signing of right-back Fin Back from Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old, who spent the past two seasons on loan at Carlisle United, has ended a 14-year association with Forest to join the Chairboys as they push for a place in the Championship.

Wycombe Eye Promotion with Key Addition

Back arrives at Adams Park with valuable Football League experience, having made 41 appearances during two successful loan spells with Carlisle under Paul Simpson. Now, he is set to play a crucial role in Wycombe’s campaign, with Matt Bloomfield’s side sitting second in League One.

Wycombe’s chief football officer Dan Rice expressed his excitement about the signing.

“Fin is an exciting prospect for the future and we’re pleased to be able to bring him into the club during this window to strengthen the squad.

“He’s grown up in a fantastic footballing environment in Forest’s academy and now we feel this is a great next step for his career to come and be part of what we’re building here at Wycombe.”

Forest Bid Farewell to Academy Graduate

Back, the son of former England rugby union star Neil Back, came through the youth ranks at Nottingham Forest before making his senior debut for the club. However, with opportunities limited at the City Ground, he was allowed to leave in search of first-team football.

Forest’s head of football development and talent management, Craig Mulholland, wished Back well in his new chapter.

“We would like to wish Fin good luck in this next step in his football career. Fin has been an exceptional individual to have in the Forest Academy, and the time is right for him to step into first-team football on a permanent basis.

“The values and work ethic he has developed in the Forest Academy will see him have a successful career. Fin will always be welcome back at the City Ground, and we wish him well at Wycombe, who we know have ambitious plans for the future.”

What Back Brings to Wycombe

Known for his pace and energy on the right flank, Back is expected to provide a defensive boost while also offering attacking support from full-back. With Wycombe aiming for automatic promotion, his arrival could prove pivotal in their bid to secure a Championship place for next season.

Writer’s View

Back’s move to Wycombe is a smart piece of business for both the player and the club. At 22, he needs regular football, and Wycombe’s current position makes this an exciting challenge. His experience at Carlisle proves he can handle the demands of League One, and if he settles quickly, he could be a key figure in the Chairboys’ promotion push.
