Bristol Rovers have overtaken Notts County in the race to sign Cardiff City forward Michael Reindorf, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
Despite initial reports that the 19-year-old was set to move to League Two, Bristol Rovers have made a late swoop, securing a deal that will see Reindorf step up to League One instead. Newport County were also credited with interest earlier in the window, but their lowly position in League Two has ruled them out.
Bristol Rovers Secure Forward Reinforcement
With Rovers battling in the lower half of the third tier, manager Matt Taylor has been eager to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer deadline. The signing of Reindorf provides them with additional firepower for the crucial months ahead.
Notts County, currently sitting third in League Two, will now be forced to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements as they continue their push for automatic promotion.

Reindorf’s Rise Through the Ranks
The young forward has spent the majority of this season with Cardiff City’s U21 squad but has made a handful of senior appearances, including a cup outing against Southampton, where he provided an assist.
Before joining Cardiff, Reindorf spent time in Norwich City’s youth system. His move to Bristol Rovers represents his first significant opportunity to earn regular first-team minutes at a senior level.
Notts County’s Disappointment
While missing out on Reindorf is a setback, Notts County remain in a strong position in their push for promotion. Sitting in third place with a game in hand over second-placed Stockport County, they are still well-placed to challenge for automatic promotion.
With just two points separating them from second, they will now shift focus to alternative targets to bolster their squad before the transfer window closes.
Bristol Rovers Fight for Survival
Currently 18th in League One, Rovers secured a crucial victory over Peterborough United last weekend, helping to ease their relegation worries.
While their recent form has been encouraging, they remain in a precarious position, with just a handful of points separating them from the drop zone.
Writer’s View
Bristol Rovers’ ability to hijack this deal shows their determination to strengthen ahead of a crucial run-in. Reindorf, though inexperienced at senior level, has shown flashes of promise, and regular game time in League One could accelerate his development. For Notts County, the challenge now is to find an alternative attacking option before the transfer window closes.
