Charlton Athletic midfielder Allan Campbell is set to leave his parent club Luton Town on a permanent basis, with Dundee United poised to complete a move, according to Football Insider.
The 26-year-old, currently on loan at The Valley, is expected to see his temporary spell in League One cut short as he prepares to return to Scotland.
Charlton Set to Lose Campbell
Campbell joined Charlton on loan last summer to strengthen their midfield options and has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season under manager Nathan Jones. However, he has struggled to cement a regular starting place, making only 12 league appearances and registering a single assist.
“He (Nathan Jones) played a massive part. He brought me to Luton from Scotland so he knows me well and I know him well from working under him.”
With Dundee United pushing for European football in the Scottish Premiership, manager Jim Goodwin has identified Campbell as an ideal signing to bolster his squad for the second half of the season.

A Return to Scotland
Campbell began his career at Motherwell, where he rose through the academy ranks before making his first-team debut as a teenager. He made 160 appearances for the Scottish side, scoring 16 goals in the process.
His performances at Fir Park earned him a move to Luton Town in 2021, where he became a key squad member, featuring in 86 matches and finding the net on seven occasions.
Despite his contributions, the Hatters opted to loan him out last season to Millwall before sending him to Charlton for the current campaign. Now, with a permanent move on the horizon, Campbell appears set to continue his career in his homeland.
Writer’s View
Campbell’s departure from Charlton and Luton seems like the best move for all parties. While he was a useful squad option in League One, he never fully established himself as a key player. Dundee United, meanwhile, will gain an experienced midfielder with Scottish Premiership experience, strengthening their push for European qualification. For Campbell, a return to familiar surroundings may reignite his form and provide him with the stability needed at this stage of his career.
