Our Three Predictions For Huddersfield Town vs Birmingham City

        • Prediction 1 –  Both Teams To Score – 4/5
        • Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 21/20
        • Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 21/10

First Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Birmingham City – Both Teams To Score – 4/5

This is a game where there are many brilliant attacking options on both sides of the pitch. For Birmingham, they of course have the brilliant threats of Alfie May and Jay Stansfield, who have a combined 22 goals this season in the league for The Blues. They also have terrific depth at their disposal, with Lyndon Dykes always being a danger in aerial situations, and scored City’s only goal in their most recent game against Wrexham. For Huddersfield, they acquired Shea Charles from Bolton Wanderers and are still waiting for him to get on the board for the club, alongside additional threats from Ben Wiles and Callum Marshall. Defensively, both teams have let in goals somewhat regularly as of late but are still two of the best defences in the third tier this season.

Second Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Birmingham City – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 21/20

Even with their strong backlines, this has the potential to see a lot of goals considering it is a must-win game for Huddersfield to try and get closer to the automatic promotion places. Birmingham have been ruthless with their opponents recently and have only been shut out by another team twice this season, against Blackpool and Charlton Athletic. It will be very difficult to hold City to a tight game and that could mean Michael Duff opts to play more offensively in this encounter. That, alongside those attacking options, could lead to a fair few goals in this one.

Third Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Birmingham City – Match To End In A Draw – 21/10

These two sides are no strangers to each other, playing at least one game each year since 2012. Birmingham however are in imperious form right now and do not look like they will lose to anyone, meaning that the ball is firmly in Huddersfield’s court to change that. It will not be easy at all for The Terriers but with home advantage they could deliver at least a point in a game which could change their season’s fortunes.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Huddersfield have faltered in their recent games after putting together a string of results which has put them back in promotion contention. Across their last five games, they have won just once, beating second-placed Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park. They have drawn three matches as well, against Blackpool, Rotherham United and a frustrating day at home to Burton Albion, which saw The Terriers scrape a point with a late Michal Helik goal in Kirklees. Their most recent game was a poor display also at home to Bolton Wanderers, losing 1-0 despite dominating the possession and only conjuring up one shot on target to record their first loss in the league since October. Town sit in fourth place but are nine points off Birmingham at the top of the table, with the gap to Wycombe seven points.

Whilst Birmingham are continuing their near-perfect form across the festive period, they have had a couple of stumbles in recent weeks. They drew in their most recent game against Wrexham, with Lyndon Dykes cancelling out Ollie Rathbone’s opener. In their last five league games, they have also seen draws to Stockport County and Blackpool, but across all competitions, have four wins and that one draw against The Red Dragons. Despite those slips, no team has capitalised, meaning The Blues hold a commanding position at the summit in League One, leading Wycombe by two points and with two games in hand on the rest of the chasing pack.

Since 2012, there have been 25 matches between Birmingham and Huddersfield, with nothing separating these two. They have played out nine draws along with seven wins apiece. Their most recent games have seen some exciting affairs, with a 4-1 win for City last season. The reverse fixture this season was also a win for Chris Davies’ men, a 1-0 win at St. Andrew’s courtesy of Alfie May.
