Wycombe Wanderers Approach Premier League Talent

Wycombe Wanderers are reportedly pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace full-back Danny Imray.

The League One promotion contenders have lodged an offer of approximately £750,000 for the 21-year-old, according to journalist Alan Nixon. Imray is currently impressing on loan at League Two side Bromley, where he has been a standout performer this season.

Imray: A Defensive Boost for Wycombe?

Imray’s performances for Bromley have not gone unnoticed. The young defender has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing two goals and four assists. His ability to support both defensive stability and attacking transitions makes him an appealing target for Wycombe Wanderers, who are seeking reinforcements as they chase promotion to the Championship.

Currently sitting in second place in League One, Wycombe are aiming to strengthen their squad to sustain their push for automatic promotion. The departure of former manager Matt Bloomfield to Luton Town adds a layer of complexity, but the Chairboys remain ambitious in their transfer market activity.

“I would like him to stay here. I think Palace would like him to stay here, but there is always a thing called an agent that has a different idea,” Bromley boss Andy Woodman said earlier this winter. “If I were Danny… I would stay and keep playing.”

Imray’s Journey So Far

A product of Crystal Palace’s academy, Imray has been on the South London club’s books for his entire career. He has made 42 appearances for their Under-21 side, tallying three goals and 11 assists. Beyond Palace, he gained valuable experience during a previous loan spell at Chelmsford City, where he played 32 games in the National League South.

At Bromley, Imray has continued his development, becoming a reliable figure in Andy Woodman’s side. Bromley, who secured promotion from the National League last season, have benefited from his versatility and consistency in defence. However, Wycombe’s interest could signal an early end to his loan spell.

Why Wycombe Want Imray

Wycombe Wanderers see Imray as a potential key asset in their push for promotion. His blend of defensive solidity and attacking contributions aligns well with their tactical approach. With a well-established youth pedigree and experience across multiple levels of English football, Imray represents both a short-term boost and a long-term investment for the Chairboys.

Writer’s View

Securing Danny Imray would be a strong statement of intent from Wycombe Wanderers as they look to solidify their promotion bid. The young full-back’s development trajectory and current form suggest he could seamlessly integrate into their squad.
