Stevenage have opted to send striker Aaron Pressley on loan to League Two in a search for more minutes.
Pressley has only played 32 times for Boro since arriving from Brentford in 2023, scoring four times. With the summer incomings of Bradford City‘s Jake Young and Tyreece Simpson from Huddersfield Town, the Scottish forward has found game time extremely limited, only playing four matches in League One this season, all of which as a substitute.
Pressley Joins Barrow
Alex Revell’s side have confirmed they sent the 23-year-old to Barrow for the remainder of the season, with The Bluebirds struggling to find goals in the fourth tier. They are averaging less than a goal a game, with 23 goals in 24 games.
Speaking to the club following arriving at Holker Street, Pressley said (Quotes via North-West Evening Mail):
“Obviously, it’s been a quick turnaround over the past couple of days and having spoken to the Gaffer, I’m excited to take the opportunity to come up here and show myself to the best of my ability.
“I think there’s a really good team here already, and they proved that at the start of the season when they started really well. It seems we’ve got some really good players here, and hopefully I can add to that and settle in really quickly.”
Writer’s View
Aaron Pressley’s future at Stevenage is unlikely to be long with their new attacking signings across the summer and his contract expiring at the end of this season. It does seem a little unfortunate that he never got a chance to prove himself this season but he didn’t really deliver in his appearances last season. Barrow does give him a good chance to show he can deliver in League Two and try and garner some interest from other clubs when his contract expires or even convince Stephen Clemence and his side he should become a permanent fixture in Cumbria.
