“It’s something I’ve definitely always had in the back of my mind, that I’d like to represent Bangladesh — and the people of Bangladesh more importantly. I’ve got a really good connection with the fans in Bangladesh. I get messages every day letting me know that they want me to come and play,” Choudhury told The Athletic.
Familiar Faces and Fresh Challenges
Wilder’s prior working relationship with Choudhury during their time at Watford could play a pivotal role in facilitating the move. The Sheffield United manager has long been an admirer of the midfielder and previously pursued him during his tenure at Middlesbrough. With United recently taken over by American owners COH Sports, there is optimism that financial backing will support Wilder’s vision for the squad.
Much depends on Leicester’s January transfer activity. Van Nistelrooy is keen to reshape his squad, and Choudhury may be allowed to leave if suitable replacements are secured. Whether United’s approach will involve a permanent deal or a loan remains to be seen, but the Blades are eager to act quickly to address their pressing needs.
