Luke Williams has quashed rumours linking him to the vacancy at West Bromwich Albion and reaffirmed his commitment to Swansea City.
The Swans boss has been in his role for just under a year since joining from Notts County and has his side challenging for a play-off position as 2025 begins.
“I Love Swansea”
Reports circulated on social media that linked Williams to a move to The Hawthorns following a win over Luton Town at the weekend. Albion are currently searching for a new boss following the departure of Carlos Corberan to La Liga side Valencia.
However, WalesOnline has since revealed that The Baggies have made no approach to Swansea about Luke Williams and he has since spoken on record about the rumours. He said:
“I love Swansea so we’ll see. I don’t believe that’s true for a start. Secondly, we have a game every three days so I’ve well and truly got my head down and I’m not interested in that for the time being.
“I think we’re really in the middle of something here. I hope it’s just the middle if that makes sense. I don’t want to sound like Churchill, but I don’t think it’s the beginning, and I don’t think it’s the end.
“We’re trying to do something here and there’s a nice energy inside the stadium when we play. There’s players becoming more exciting and players that we’re starting to really trust and buy into.
“I want the fans to but into the players and start to get a great feeling when they see them on the pitch, and for the players on the pitch to feel the warmth coming back from the fans.”

These rumours may have been pure speculation and Luke Williams has now firmly nipped them in the bud. Next week will be the one-year anniversary of him taking charge in South Wales and has already put the side in a very good position in that time. West Brom will need to look elsewhere and with other potential target Johnny Heitinga unlikely to leave Liverpool halfway through their season, they will have to look further down their wish list to find Carlos Corberan’s successor.
