‘Seeing Progression’ – Lincoln City Boss On Sheffield Wednesday Loanee

Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala has offered glowing praise for Sheffield Wednesday loanee Bailey Cadamarteri, following the teenager’s impactful performance in the Vertu Trophy clash against Morecambe.

The young striker’s headed winner marked his sixth goal of the season, but his limited starting opportunities at Sincil Bank have been a topic of conversation among fans of both clubs.

Improvements and Challenges

Despite Cadamarteri’s undeniable knack for finding the back of the net, Skubala highlighted areas where the 18-year-old can refine his skills. Speaking to BBC Sport Lincolnshire, the Lincoln manager shed light on the dual purpose of such loans: to provide opportunities for growth and to compete for a place in the starting eleven.

“Like all the players that are fighting for minutes he will want more, but he’s progressing well, we’re seeing improvements in his game all the time. He’s got a good eye for goal, and got another good goal against Morecambe, but it’s his all-round game that probably needs progressing.

“His attitude is fantastic, his work ethic is fantastic, and his parent club, Sheffield Wednesday, are really happy as well because he’s seeing a progression in his all-round game.”

Skubala’s endorsement of Cadamarteri’s character and work ethic reflects positively on the teenager’s potential trajectory. His contributions at Lincoln City have not gone unnoticed, with the manager emphasising the player’s long-term value for both the Imps and Sheffield Wednesday.

The young forward’s current challenge is to secure a regular starting role amidst fierce competition within the Lincoln squad. With the Imps gearing up for a crucial League One fixture against Huddersfield Town, Cadamarteri will aim to leave his mark at a ground tied to his family history—his father Danny’s former club.

Writer’s View

Cadamarteri’s loan spell at Lincoln City offers a valuable test of character and skill development, essential for a young player seeking to break through at the senior level. Skubala’s remarks suggest that while the striker’s natural talent is evident, the experience is as much about learning to thrive in a competitive environment. Balancing game time with personal growth is challenging, but if Cadamarteri continues to demonstrate his determination and talent, he could become a key asset for Sheffield Wednesday in the years to come.
