27-Year-Old Makes Queens Park Rangers Contract Admission

Queens Park Rangers defender Jimmy Dunne has revealed that he has yet to discuss an extension to his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old Irishman, who is currently in the final year of his contract, did not give any indication of a potential renewal when asked about it.

“I’ve had no conversations. We’ll see what happens I suppose. I haven’t really thought about it,” he told West London Sport.

Dunne’s comments came just days after he scored the opening goal in QPR’s 3-0 victory over Norwich City, a result that helped lift the club out of the Championship relegation zone. The goal was a significant moment for both Dunne and his team, as it marked their first home win of the season.

QPR’s Improving Form

Since the squad overhaul during the summer, QPR have struggled with injuries and the adaptation of new signings, but the team has recently shown signs of improvement. They are now unbeaten in their last four matches and have kept three consecutive clean sheets. Dunne believes the team’s momentum is building, despite the difficulties they have faced earlier in the season.

“I think the momentum has been building because the performances had been good and we deserved better results. We’ve played games where we’ve deserved three points. There’s just such fine margins. People forget we’re a new group and we’re still bonding relationships with players that have come in from all over Europe. It takes time but it looks like we’re getting there.”

QPR’s performances under new manager Martí Cifuentes have been improving, with Dunne being a key part of their defensive solidity. The team is starting to gel, and Dunne is hopeful that their recent run of form can continue as they look to move further up the table and avoid relegation.

Writer’s View

While Dunne’s contract situation remains unresolved, his recent form suggests he could be a key player for QPR moving forward. The club’s improved performances under Cifuentes, coupled with Dunne’s solid defensive displays, bode well for their future. With the squad still in transition, QPR will be hoping that their momentum continues as they fight for safety in the Championship.
