Huddersfield Town Boss Shares Exciting Injury Update

Huddersfield Town head coach Michael Duff has revealed a number of first team stars are edging closer to fitness ahead of the busy festive schedule.

The Terriers have had their fair share of injury problems this season, with the likes of first choice goalkeeper Lee Nicholls and summer signings Lasse Sorensen and Antony Evans having all spent extended spells on the sidelines. Despite the absence of so many key players, Huddersfield’s form has improved since the turn of October, and they currently sit fourth in League One.

They travel to Mansfield Town on Saturday on a run of eight league games without a defeat, having also won their last three. This has seen them move to within seven points of leaders Wycombe Wanderers and five behind second-placed Wrexham, who have played a game more.

Players Set To Return

Ahead of the trip to the One Call Stadium, Duff has issued an exciting update about the players currently missing from his squad. Via the Yorkshire Postthe former Barnsley boss said:

“Lasse (Sorensen) comes into it but he’s not played any sort of minutes so it’s unlikely he’ll be involved (against Mansfield). He’s the next one in.

“Lee Nicholls is in full training now. He’s only done two or three days’ training but he’s not being monitored or limited in any of his movements.

“Chappy (Jacob Chapman) has been great but it’s not a bad goalkeeper to come back in. That’s not to say he will come straight back in because Chappy has been great.

“There’s Antony Evans, Hodgey (Joe Hodge) and Radinio (Balker) getting back fit now. It’s exciting and hopefully the supporters can see where we could go.”

Writer’s View

This is a huge boost for Huddersfield, who are absolutely flying at the moment. There’s an argument to say that they have been a better team since their mini-injury crisis kicked in, which goes to show the strength in depth they possess. The Terriers have plenty of games coming up, providing them with an opportunity to ease some of these players back in. Duff admits he is excited by the prospect of the next few months. Supporters should be too, with automatic promotion still very much the aim.
