Ian Holloway has sensationally claimed that Swindon Town‘s training ground may be haunted following an issue with injuries.
The former Bristol Rovers boss is still in search of a first win since replacing Mark Kennedy last month and is seemingly taking no precautions in trying to redeem their woes.
“I’m Not Joking”
Injuries have been a plague for Swindon and a fresh concern to captain Ollie Clarke has prompted Holloway to call for an exorcism of the training ground. Clarke’s issue came at their base at Calne in Wiltshire, rupturing his tendon.
Speaking to BBC Radio Wiltshire, Holloway said (Quotes via The Guardian):
“I’m absolutely devastated so I’m going to try and cleanse the training ground area because people are telling me it’s haunted. There’s a graveyard somewhere near. Honestly, I’m not joking.
“I think our training ground is very close to an ancient burial site so I’m going to get my wife to come up and say sorry to all these people and hopefully we’ll have a bit more luck.”
It is not the first time ‘Ollie’ has crossed paths with the paranormal, previously claiming the car he owned whilst he was playing for Queens Park Rangers was being haunted by his father.
They face Morecambe this weekend but a positive result for The Shrimps and the other teams between them could put The Robins bottom of League Two.
Writer’s View
When Ian Holloway took the job at Swindon Town, this was the exact kind of antics that people would have expected. Once again the manager has had a run-in with ghosts and perhaps this banishing of demons could give Swindon a very unexpected boost as they try to get vital points on the board.
