Blackpool Manager Keen To Get ‘Back On Track’

Blackpool boss Steve Bruce is keen for his side to get back to winning ways against Northampton Town at Bloomfield Road this afternoon, as he spoke to the club’s official website.

The Seasiders go into the fixture on the back of a penalty victory over Harrogate Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Disappointing League Form

After an excellent start to Bruce’s tenure, with four league wins from his opening four in charge, it is now six League One outings without a victory. Bruce is keen to end that run and start moving up the table again.

“We need to get up and running again.”

“We have had a disappointing three or four weeks in the league and we need to get back on track. It’s a great opportunity at home.”

He is hopeful that the injury problems currently being endured by their opponents will work to Blackpool’s advantage.

“We need the supporters to get behind us and we need to give them something to shout about. They have got a right few injuries so let’s hope we can capitalise on that.”

Useful Trophy Run Out

Bruce was pleased with the midweek game with Harrogate Town, if for nothing else than the opportunity for players to get minutes under their belts.

“It was great to see some players back especially James Husband as he has been around the block so he gives that bit of experience to the group.”

“Ollie Norburn is in and around it as well. It was great to see CJ (Hamilton) and (Rob) Apter look fully fit so we are slowly getting players back…”

Positive Finnigan News

Bruce revealed he was delighted with Ryan Finnegan against Harrogate and was pleased for the midfielder who has been nursing his way back from an injury-hit spell.

“I was quietly pleased with him at Gillingham in the cup and we kind of nursed him over the last 10 days. I thought he was arguably our best player the other night.”

“That goal will give him that little bit of confidence that every footballer needs.”

Writer’s View

Bruce’s appointment looked to have set Blackpool off on a playoff surge with an impressive opening set of results.

Bruce’s return after a truly awful few weeks for him personally will likely see an upturn in Blackpool’s form.
